MITK informs me that magistrates have a new piece of insanity to
contend with which is clogging up both courts and Probation
Service.
Pre-Sentence Reports are now required in ALL cases of domestic
violence - however trivial. Even a push or shove results in at least one extra
court appearance and also significant extra work for our overburdened POs. Why
do magistrates not have the power to make their own
decisions?
