AUSTRIA should break away from the European Union due to the increasing influence poorer nations will have in the bureaucratic bloc after Brexit, a top economist claims. Hans-Werner Sinn argued that population, along with wealth, will tip the balance of power in the favour of poorer countries after such as Greece and Spain while Germany and Austria will suffer.
With Britain set to trigger Article 50 in early 2017, Sinn claims so-called richer nations will be at the mercy of poorer nations who will manipulate and mould the EU in their favour.
