Redefining.

I recently spotted an article which referred to the 'extreme right' or 'hard right' and yet the proof of that particular pudding was to use Nigel Farage as the example!

Like him as a human being or not, it is incredible that a man who would most assuredly have been classed as a dyed-in-the-wool liberal post First World War - and almost certainly into the 50s and probably way beyond - is now the best example leftist writers can find. His own self-description would probably define himself as a pragmatic libertarian.
Married to a German; anti-racism; anti-imperialism - (probably his biggest argument against the EU); wholly democratic in opinions; respects others; middle-of-the-road regarding national identity; hate free; there was a strong minority presence in UKIP when he was leader.
This shows that language has changed and the only reason why such misnomers are now possible is that the hard left - which has seemingly always existed - has now shifted five or six notches further leftward.
