80 Years Ago Today ...
... we found ourselves at war with the National SOCIALISTS.
That left 50 million dead. Meanwhile, good ole Marxist Stalin was already well under way with his butchery. The good old days when academics believed that he had killed a mere nine million of his own people seem a long time ago. Nobody now believes it was less than 20 million and possibly many, many more.
Pol Pot slaughtered half the population of Cambodia - not in the same range as these others, where numbers are concerned, of course, but the percentage is horrendous.
Nobody has any real idea how many of his own were butchered by Mao in China - we rely largely on underestimates.
Let us not forget that, since 1917, calculated estimates lay some 180 million deaths at the door of assorted types of communism.
All of the above, and those nations which have killed their own on a smaller scale, have two things in common, if for some bizarre reason, should you care to listen to leftists, today:
1) None of these was real socialism and
2) Our version won't be like that.
Incidentally, the gross figure above does not even include Hitler's version.
Still, even if it is few million short of a quarter of a billion souls - who's counting?

Does Salt Carry Any Dangers?
Is salt really as damaging as doctors claim? Scientific sceptics claim there is no real evidence it causes health problems
Campaigners are calling on Britain's Government to introduce higher taxes on salty foods, akin to the sugar tax. But scientific sceptics say there is no real proof salt intake leads to health problems.
Blogger: so much backtracking by those scientists who have bullied us for years: tea, coffee, butter, animal fats etc.
I began to doubt the 'cozy consensus' on salt when I discovered that the longest-living people on earth, those who live in the High Andes, have diets which contain huge amounts of salt.
I do, however, believe that they are basically right where sugar and so many food additives are concerned.
Mexican Pastor Murdered.
A pastor in southwest Mexico was shot and killed after a church service on Sunday amid ongoing targeting of faith leaders by criminal gangs.
According to international watchdog group Christian Solidarity Worldwide, Pastor Alfrery Líctor Cruz Canseco was sitting in his car outside Fraternidad Cristiana church in the town of Tlalixtac de Cabrera in Oaxaca state when he was shot at point-blank range.
Cruz Canseco died while he was being transported to a local hospital.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the family and congregation of Pastor Cruz Canseco,” CSW Chief Executive Merwyn Thomas said in a statement.
A translated statement posted on the Fraternidad Christiana Facebook pagereads: “We regret the departure of Alfrery Lictor Cruz Canseco, friend and brother in Christ very loved by our congregation.”
Although the motive remains uncertain, CSW, which advocates for Christians in over 20 countries worldwide, notes that the killing comes on the heels of a recent series of attacks that have targeted religious leaders in the region.
Among the recent attacks against faith leaders was the kidnapping of Pastor Aarón Méndez Ruiz, who ran a shelter for Cuban immigrants in Nuevo Laredo and was abducted on Aug. 3.
“We also remain concerned for the well-being of Pastor Méndez Ruiz and urge the Mexican government to spare no effort in ensuring his safe return, investigating all of these crimes and prosecuting those responsible,” Thomas stated.
CSW warns that the expansion of criminal groups in Mexico as well as a “climate of impunity” when it comes to crimes they commit has led to an increase in violence against Protestant and Catholic leaders because they are viewed as a threat to criminal groups.
According to CSW, 10 religious leaders were killed in Mexico in 2018.
As questions have been raised as to why church leaders in a predominantly-Catholic country are increasingly being abducted, harmed or killed, USA Today reported last April that at least 23 religious leaders had been killed in Mexico since 2012.
Earlier this week, the Catholic Multimedia Center reported that at least 26 Catholic priests have been killed since 2012.
“We urge the international community to engage with the Mexican government on these matters and to recognize the role that many religious leaders play, not only as leaders of their churches, but also as voices for peace, justice and integrity, and as human rights defenders,” Thomas concluded in his statement.
Mexico ranks as the 39th-worst country in the world when it comes to Christian persecution as organized crime in the country continues to go unconfronted, according to Open Doors USA’s 2019 World Watch List.
According to Open Doors, Christians, their leaders and church buildings in Mexico are increasingly becoming victims of attacks, threats, extortion and other forms of coercion throughout the entire country.
“Due to the government’s inability to confront violence, some Christians feel forced to implement their own security strategies against acts of Christian persecution, including engaging leaders of criminal groups themselves,” an Open Doors USA factsheet reads.
“Organized crime primarily targets priests and pastors, while indigenous power holders pressure Christians through fines, denying basic community service and imprisonment. The state attorney general in Guerrero has falsely implied that priests were engaged in criminal activity, further inflaming religious tensions.”
In its 2017 annual report, the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom voiced concern about the targeting of Catholic priests and other religious leaders by cartels such as Los Zetas and Knights Templar. The report noted that over the span of a week in September 2016, three priests were found dead.
“Religious leaders are targeted because they speak out against the gangs and/or because they refuse to include gang spiritual mythology in their sermons,” the USCIRF report reads.
An earlier version of this article published on Aug. 20 reported that Pastor Alfrery Líctor Cruz Canseco was in the pulpit of his church when he was shot. But according to Christian Solidarity Worldwide, reports have since emerged that Pastor Cruz Canseco was in his car following a church service when he was shot. CP.

I have a question. When did adding the word “People’s” to everything start being A Thing? First we had the People’s Vote, then we had the People’s March and now, lo and behold, we have the People’s Parliament.
This is somewhat confusing. After all, who is doing all the voting that isn’t being done by, well, people? Are there national squirrel referendums we haven’t been told about?
Are cats regularly daubing placards with EU flags and heading off to London on marches I’ve been unlucky enough to never spot? And, other than owls, who else is sitting in parliaments that we have apparently otherwise missed?
The People’s Parliament is just the latest manifestation of this Orwellian attempt by Remoaners... DT.

"Brexit Is A Plot."
I know this fact to be true because I read it on the front page of the communist Morning Star, this morning. So, obviously, it must be the truth.
Apparently, there is no trade deal as such looming with the USA at all - it is just the means to an inglorious end.
Boris is concocting an underhand deal with the Donald to subvert the rights of the workers whilst, at the same time, compressing wages.
It was interesting too to note that this old pap came from a member of the Labour shadow cabinet. That tells a story, dunnit?
Strange that there was a great deal in the nature of assertions and precious little in terms of facts. This was a rant calculatedly designed for the terminally simple.
Interesting too that there was no mention how cheap labour from the continent has cost so many British workers their jobs and has compressed wages as a foul consequence.
