English Cricket - What Comes Lower Than Ashes, BTW?

Plumbing new depths? - SACK COOK! Even in the highly improbable event that England were to sneak a victory over Sri Lanka - after this abject display - my mind will not be changed. Poor captaincy; poor leadership by example; poor leadership; poor control over his bowlers; unambitious field-setting; poor vision. Clutching defeat out of the very jaws of victory. We have not advanced by a single jot from the Australian debacle.
Time to quit; time to leave; time to fall on his sword; time to wave bye byes!

In Spite Of The EU Establishment's Institutional Dishonesty - UKIP Has Formed A Group!

MITK stated it was gonna happen - and it did!  The new group is an important victory for Mr Farage, who has been battling with the anti-federalist ECR group, led by Britain's Conservatives, for the allegiance of many of the same MEPs over the past few weeks. His Europe of Freedom and Democracy (EFD) is composed of 24 Ukip MEPs, 17 Italians from the anti-establishment Five Star Movement, two Lithuanians, one Czech, one French, two Swedes, and one Latvian. It is currently the smallest group in the EP, with all groups to be finally formed by 24 June. EU Observer.

Egypt's New Government Calls for Anti-Christian Measures?

By Raymond Ibrahim
Overlooked in the midst of all the celebrations in Egypt concerning the presidential victory of Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, his predecessor, President Adly Mansour—who very much shares in Sisi's worldview and politics—made a strange comment about the place of the nation's Christian minority, the Copts. Anti-Christian Persecution On The Rise In Europe.

Rise in cases of intolerance against Christians in Europe

Read the full report >  New report documents 241 cases of intolerance against Christians in Europe in 2013
The Austria-based Observatory on Intolerance Against Christians in Europe has reported that the number of "hate-related incidents against Christians in Europe are rising", with incidents ranging from vandalism against churches to bullying in the workplace and violence against Christians pro-life campaigners.
The report notes that incidents of intolerance have also involved limitations on free speech by hate speech legislation and restrictions on the freedom of conscience of Christian employees, with the most affected groups including medical staff, marriage registrars and wedding facility owners.
"Chilling effect"
The report observes: "Christians have found themselves in court for quoting the Bible, or arguing in their own words in favour of Christian positions....Frequently, such cases concern topics about Islam or homosexuality. The harmful effects of "hate speech" laws are. however, easy to recognise.  They create a chilling effect on free speech."
It adds: "
Equal treatment laws can create irresolvable moral conflicts for Christians forcing them to choose between their belief and their business.  While this legislation is phrased in a neutral way, practice shows that it is very often Christians who are taken to court."  Christian Concern.

Miliband: Note And Note WELL!

Ed Miliband has admitted that the UK will NEVER leave the EU under Labour.

Psephology.

4,351,204 votes. That is how many UKIP took in winning the EU elections. If recent polls are to be believed, they will lose between 10% & 20% of these over the next 11 months.
So - that still means an increase of more than 250% on the last General Election BUT the turnout will almost double. So how many could they reasonably aim for? - 5.5 million? - Fewer? - More?
Inevitably, they will target certain seats very hard and try to establish a firm base in Westminster. If they can achieve that - they can look to forming a government in 2020. It is a big ask but they are on a roll at the moment. Maintaining impetus in the period up to the General Election will not be easy.

Important Case of Nohad Halawi in Court of Appeal on Wednesday

Watch an interview with Nohad
Halawi here(3m 55s) >
The case of a Christian Legal Centre client, who was dismissed from her job at Heathrow airport on the basis of false rumours that she was 'anti-Islam', will be heard at the Court of Appeal next Wednesday (25 June).
Nohad Halawi, who worked at a duty free shop at Heathrow's Terminal 3 for 13 years, had defended a fellow Christian employee who was mocked by the Muslim workers for wearing a cross.  The management took away her ‘airside’ pass which meant that she was no longer allowed to work at the airport.
An Employment Tribunal ruled in 2012 that Nohad had no protection under employment law as she was not “technically employed” - despite significant evidence to the contrary.
Andrea Williams of the Christian Legal Centre said:
"This is a clear case of injustice involving a Christian worker which was obvious to many of Nohad’s colleagues – including some Muslim colleagues – who signed a petition protesting her dismissal. In order for us to challenge Nohad’s unfair dismissal, and the unequal treatment of Christians in the workplace, we need a judge to rule that she was in fact employed. This is why we’re supporting Nohad as her case goes to the Court of Appeal next week." Christian Concern.

Liberalism will die out to leave a conservative evangelical church

Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali
A prediction that “conservative evangelicalism” will survive in the Christian church, liberalism will die out and mainline protestant denominations will not survive, has been made by Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali in an interview published on the Anglican website Virtue Online.

Commenting on the future of the Christian church, Bishop Nazir-Ali told journalist, David Virtue: “
The mainline protestant denominations will do their Cheshire cat act. What will survive may be an orthodox form of Anglicanism which is allied to Pentecostalism, conservative Anglicans or the Ordinariates. I can’t see mainline protestant denominations surviving. They will not be influential.” Christian Concern.
