Evans.

Yet again, the claim of innocence for Timothy Evans, hanged for the murder of his wife and child in 1950, is being put forward. This is one myth I really had felt was permanently debunked - but no. Back it comes - this time in the Mail!
There was only one problem with the conviction of Evans. He lived in the same tenement block as the infamous mass murderer, Christie.
It is claimed by the dishonest and film makers that Evans was hanged based on the testimony of Christie, which is simply untrue. Christie had testified prior to the fact of his own bad habits becoming known certainly - but his testimony was largely peripheral.
Evans had already made attempts on his wife's life - something conveniently missing amongst all the propaganda.

Even so, this matter was considered a godsend by the abolitionists who were desperate in their quest for a martyr. Evans fitted their bill.
Ludovic Kennedy and a man named Eddowes led the campaign.

Years after, the son of this Eddowes was so utterly disgusted by his late father's dishonesty in this case that he wrote a book which is now the definitive version on these events. The dubious and dishonest tactics used in the 'martyr creation' are fully outlined.

There is only one conclusion that can be reached - and it is entirely different from that presented in the appallingly biased and factually dishonest film by Richard Attenborough, called "10 Rillington Place."

Please read:
"The two killers of Rillington Place"
Author:
John Eddowes.

NOTE:

Hanratty, the A6 murderer, was unsurprisingly confirmed as guilty by forensic work a few years ago by Wetherby Forensic Laboratory.

As Ruth Ellis and Bentley, other causes célèbres were both guilty by all legal definitions in the 50s, their cases may have been a little disquieting but were not miscarriages of justice.

Abolitionists tried for decades to find martyrs to their cause. They failed!
