Dr Giles Fraser, who, in response to proposals to force churches to employ workers in same sex relationships under the terms of its Equality Bill, recently warned, 'We must not allow homophobia to disguise itself as any sort of legitimate religious belief – it isn’t! Homophobia is a sin and its eradication from churches, mosques and synagogues is one of the most urgent challenges for people of faith in the 21st century." And with this pronouncement, Fraser inflates the term ’homophobia’ to include not only the historic teaching of his own Church and Communion, but that of Islam and Judaism too!My thanks to Charles Raven.
Strange really. What are the possibilities here then?
a] 'This professional christian' has not read the Bible in full.
b] 'This professional christian' has read it and doesn't care what it says.
c] 'This professional christian' has read it and isn't bright enough to have understood it. (Don't ever let a doctorate fool you.)
d] 'This professional christian' does not believe in the divine inspiration of Scripture.
e] 'This professional christian' thinks that God is behind the times.
f] 'This professional christian' believes that he knows better than God.
g] 'This professional christian' believes that modern man has advanced so wonderfully that all liberal christians, modernists, do-gooders, agnostics, atheists, totem worshippers and socialists have a better overview than The Almighty.
h] 'This professional christian' believes that Man should be free to do just what the hell he likes and God must come to an accomodation with that.
i] 'This professional christian' believes that God forgives and He will always forgive, come what may. Repentance is not necessary.
I have no idea how many of the above apply in this case. What I do know is that I have proved in my own life that God's Word can be relied on. Incidentally, I have read the whole of the Bible!
