The Turin Shroud: spiritual backwater.

If you search through the New Testament, you will struggle long and hard and fruitlessly to find any veneration of relics whatsoever, whether they be crowns of thorns, Last Supper crockery or crucifixion nails.
So why all the nonsense about the Shroud of Turin?

Let us say that it is indeed real. Then so what? - It adds nothing to the relationship between God and Man of each individual, which is all that truly matters.
If you need relics to promote faith - just what kind of understanding of the qualities of faith do you possess?
In all likelihood, as Channel 5 made the point last night, it is a fake.
Historically of course it would have interest; spiritually it has none.
