YOUNG thugs should be spared jail because of their “immaturity”, judges have been told.New guidelines say that even persistent offenders should not be locked up as their behaviour may simply be down to youthful high spirits.
Judges are also being ordered not to punish youngsters for behaving rudely in court. They might feel they are being “discriminated against” by the justice system, according to the new government recommendations.
NO! WE MUST MOVE ENTIRELY IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION.
Why do most criminals offend? - Because they have no fear of the consequences of their actions! Just how thick or blinkered do you have to be to fail to grasp the blindingly obvious?
My spy in local Magistrates Court has relayed to me the anger and dejection of the magistrates. These people work unpraised and unpaid for the community. Their hands are tied more tightly year on year!
If I had still been a JP - this would have been the last straw. [Pun intended]
It would be interesting to know how many top notch magistrates will be lost because they will have finally reached the end of their tether!
