'A belief that heaven or an afterlife awaits us is a "fairy story" for people afraid of death, Stephen Hawking has said.' (Guardian.)
How can anybody so brilliant be so utterly dense?
1) It is 100% impossible to disprove the existence of God.
2) I doubt that he'd claim to have 1% of all the knowledge in the universe - but let us grant him that lofty amount. That still leaves 'room' for God in the 99% he does not know!
3) He makes 'a straw man argument'. I have met very few Christians indeed - if any - who are such out of a 'fear of death'.
4) He dismisses all personal experience because he has not encountered it for himself.
5) His opinion - and that is all that this represents - is a 'faith position'.
6) I have no doubt that he argues that because 'bad stuff happens' - God is disproved. This is one of the weakest exercises in logic I have ever met (If he does not use this argument as so many others do - I apologise unreservedly!)
Prayer for this man is a must. Please join in!
Self explanatory title. I abhor that nicey nicey, politically correct, pseudo-Christianity which almost always supports leftwing attitudes - which in most cases are profoundly anti-Gospel. This Blog supports persecuted Christians. This Blog exposes cults. This Blog opposes junk science. UPDATED DAILY. This is not a forum. This Blog supports truly Christian websites and aids their efforts. It is hardhitting and unashamedly evangelical so if it offends - please do not come to this site!
