The traditional leftists such as Benn, Shore, Foot et al despised the EU on so many levels.
Considering leftwing thinking, their position was most logical.
The liberal left however, have viewed the EU as a vehicle for their extremist, liberal agenda and consequently have embraced it.
Pragmatists on the left today STILL reject the EU.
It is the anti-democratic utopian element whom we must fear.
Nonetheless, even the real left have now been universally tainted by this political correctness.
My socialist grandfather will be 'turning in his grave' at what the liberal left have done to our nation and beyond. It was the sudden eruption as a worldwide movement which has been so very puzzling.
