59% of what you pay for a gallon of petrol in the UK goes to The Exchequer. In real terms, that is around 80p per litre or around £3-61 per gallon.It was interesting in Spain recently when I spotted that they are paying almost exactly the same in euros as we have to pay in pounds sterling for a litre!
