Attendees at the UKIP conference in Doncaster raised £2000 for forces charity Pilgrim Bandits which helps injured servicemen and women and amputees maintain active lives. The charity were invited to the event to fundraise by the party's defence spokesman Mike Hookem MEP as the charity's patron, Ben Parkinson MBE, is a local resident.
Mike Hookem said, "I am proud - although not surprised - that party members dug deep into their pockets for such a worthwhile charity which recognises that people who had very active lives prior to any injury should have every chance to keep that up, even if they have lost limbs.
"The party is incredibly supportive of the military and veterans and having Ben Parkinson to help us fundraise ensured we made as much money as possible."
