Closer to home, a Christian woman was disciplined by the NHS for giving a
religious book to a fellow Muslim colleague. I haven’t spoken to her in decades,
but I personally know Victoria to be a good, honest, caring human being. Two
people are friends. One is Christian, the other Muslim. They both campaign
against human trafficking. They both discuss their personal faiths. One offers
to pray for the other; the offer is accepted. And then, she offers to lend her a
book and invites her to church.
Then there's a disciplinary hearing. What for? Am I alone in not spotting what on earth she's supposed to have done wrong here? Is the Court of Appeal so keen to undermine the freedom of religion that we enjoy in this country? As she says, "What the court clearly failed to do was to say how, in today's politically correct world, any Christian can even enter into a conversation with a fellow employee on the subject of religion and not, potentially, later end up in an employment tribunal."
