Derby City Council announced on Sunday there will be no bin collections over the festive period for the third year in a row.
Two  councillors have now said they will take to the streets using a van and a trailer to collect the trash from the Alvaston area of the city themselves.
Derby's Ukip group leader, Councillor Alan Graves and member for Alvaston, Councillor John Evans, will hold their own collection on December 28.
