After The Latest Spanish Elections ...

Spain's far-right Vox party DOUBLES its seats at election and ruling socialists are left further from forming a majority

  • After a fourth national ballot in as many years,  the Socialists held on as leading power in National Parliament
  • With 99 per cent of the votes counted, the Socialists won 120 seats, down three seats from the last election
  • But it was a mixed result as it was still far from absolute majority of 176 needed to form a government alone
  • Big political shift came as voters flocked to Vox, which only broke into Parliament in the spring for first time
  • The far-right Vox party, which is led by the 43-year-old Santiago Abascal, rocketed from 24 up to 52 seats
