Debate Or Just A Demonstration of Ignorant Behaviour?

Last night I saw an 'equalities campaigner' brought onto the Russia Today news channel to debate the rights and wrongs of the nation keeping that rollicking old song, Rule Britannia.
The middle-aged Lee Jasper has apparently spent most of his life practising to be: loud, abusive, awkward, intolerant and apparently, anti-free speech too as he constantly attempted to bully, browbeat, interrupt and shout down his opponent.

This was the most vile tirade I have ever witnessed from any leftist on the broadcast media - quite an achievement - but then, he was apparently a former aide to a certain Mr Ken Livingstone. To be fair, however, even that gentleman had some semblance of manners.
As far as I could gather, through the ranting 'Britons never being enslaved' meant that the song supported slavery and colonialism. ??? He poured scorn on the achievements of Wilberforce and refused to even consider the UK's considerable role in helping to bring about the abolition of slavery. ???
Perhaps, in his role as thought police, he could have paid a little more attention to the word 'rule' which is arguably a tad distasteful if you are an extreme literalist - especially in a nation which has so often fought tyranny. Indeed, without a mighty navy - how would we have beaten imperialist scum such as: Napoleon, Hitler and The Kaiser? Why should we not celebrate our naval achievements?
His opponent was quick to point out that 'times have moved on' thus implying that nobody actually takes the song very seriously - a pretty fair point - but our man refused to be anything other than profoundly offended.
Sigh!
