Do You Wish To Help CSW?

Your gift helps us campaign for those in prison for their beliefs.

Hi,
Reverend Lorenzo Rosales Fajardo was violently arrested in peaceful protests in Cuba last July.
He is being held in a maximum-security prison, where he has been beaten, assaulted, and held in solitary confinement. Last December, he was put on trial. His family had to wait for an agonising five months before officially being told he had been sentenced to seven years in prison.
Pastor Lorenzo is being targeted because he’s a church leader, and this case is part of a long-standing campaign targeting him that goes back to 2009, when his home, where his church met, was confiscated.

But it’s not just the pastor who is being punished; his whole family are being targeted:

His wife, Maridilegnis Carballo, was fired from her position as a lawyer for being married to him. She was told that she was ‘no longer a trustworthy person’.

His son, David, who was 17 at the time, was arrested with his father and was detained incommunicado for seven days. He has also been summoned to interrogations by State Security.

As a result of our advocacy, awareness-raising, and campaigning:
  • Five UN Special Procedures have sent a joint communication to the Cuban government requesting information about the treatment and detention of Pastor Lorenzo.
  • High-level officials at several embassies in Havana are in direct contact with Pastor Lorenzo’s family so they can monitor his case directly.
  • Pastor Lorenzo’s son, David, met with European diplomats at the Dutch Embassy  in Havana.

You have stood with this courageous family when they needed it most - thank you for partnering with us for justice.

Grace and peace,

P.S. Maridilegnis sent us this message to thank you for supporting her family: 'I pray to God for each one of the people who fights tirelessly for the victims' rights and freedom, you are true heroes. I give thanks to every member of the CSW team for your support…’
