Duckworth-Lewis-Stern.

The Duckworth–Lewis–Stern method (DLS) is a mathematical formulation designed to calculate the target score (number of runs needed to win) for the team batting second in a limited overs cricket  match interrupted by weather or other circumstances.

Blogger: what this writer has not been able to uncover is the percentage of sides batting second, in weather-interrupted matches, which go onto win. To me, the advantages of batting second are considerable.
The first side to bat has its innings - let us say 20 overs - and works to a pace based on conditions. The second side bats according to the adjusted total - and where scores are low, can readily chase down a target when not having a sufficient risk factor built in.
