SIR – Sweden is revered for many things, including its welfare state, its Covid policy, and its approach to health care more broadly.
What is seldom mentioned is that it abolished inheritance tax in 2004. People who had previously moved abroad to protect their wealth flocked home. Getting rid of the unpopular tax has been a lasting success.The Chancellor should seriously consider doing the same.
