Every now and again ...

Every now and again, a little common sense breaks through and puts into sharp relief the madness which customarily surrounds and envelops us.

Lord Patten accused 'social engineers' of trying to force universities to make up for the failings of comprehensive education."
Wow!
As a former state school pupil, I would have been horrified to have been offered a place at Oxbridge at the expense of somebody better qualified, on the spurious grounds that they had not been educated in the state system.
