Litigious?

Don't blame ASDA, blame our litigious society.

Lindsey Oil Refinery.

Having worked at the Lindsey Oil Refinery at N. Killingholme many years ago, I take a particular interest in the current dispute there.
My sympathy with these workers is real but I am less than happy with the way the unions involved seem to have badly missed the point.
It is not quite as portrayed that 'foreign workers are taking our jobs'.
My understanding is that this French owned company has simply taken the best bid for given contracts. The consequence is that Italian and Portuguese workers are now in place.
There are a number of angles required to put this matter into perspective.
1] European Union rules do not permit companies to only consider bids from British firms. I suspect that the penalties for not taking the best bid and adopting 'little Englander' attitudes would be severe.

2] Why are the trade unions not complaining about the mass influx of workers from the poorer EU nations which has been far more damaging to British workers than this relatively minor issue?

3] Gordon Brown's "British jobs for British workers" is just hot air and is undeliverable as long as we remain controlled by Brussels.
4] Uncontrolled immigration has contributed to this with workers from beyond the EU who have been let in because of Labour's laxness and EU rules, once again.
Clearly, British workers should be voting for the only party which will address the real issue - UKIP!

BMI Baby.

I should like to recommend to all my readers to avoid purchasing flights with BMI Baby, the midlands airline.
My wife and I were recently victims of a scam at East Midlands Airport regarding the dishonest selling of the BMI Baby credit card.
BMI have been uncooperative in the extreme in resolving this matter which has now been reported to the local police and will also result in a civil action to claim the costs of two return flights for Spain.
BMI have now claimed that Citi Bank, the issuers of the cards, are actually to blame but the credit card, the literature and the promises are all made in their name so their intransigence is unfathomable!

The reality of government bail outs.

"The truth is, however, that government spending does not so much create, as displace employment. Every pound spent by the Government must first be taken from the people, who cannot then spend it for themselves. If the money taken, is taken [back]through taxes, it exactly reduces the ability of the people to spend or invest it for themselves as they wish, or to save it for transfer, via the banking system, for others to spend or invest as they wish. If the money is borrowed, it again exactly reduces the amount of money that the people can borrow to spend or invest."

The Gospel of Judas?

The stupidity of so-called intelligent people has never failed to surprise and amaze me during my stay on this planet.
The so-called Gospel of Judas is a case in point.

1] This 'gospel' dates from the 3rd or 4th century which hardly compares well with the fragments of John and Mark's gospels which date back archaeologically to the first century.

2] It is claimed that there might have been a 2nd century, greek version. Probably not, and even if correct, then so what?

3] It was produced by the gnostics who bear little similarity to the Christian Church and calling them a cult would be quite kind.

4] Why do historians take rejected texts and attribute a greater worth to them than the Christians did at the time?

5] Do they not grasp that rooting through historical 'dustbins' can produce gems but usually all you are usually going to find is rubbish.
6] One small and possibly trivial extra point, Judas Iscariot died a few days after Jesus.
Are they really claiming that they have found his notebook from those days when he was a disciple? - Oh dear! If that is not their claim, then how do they explain the massive contradiction?
7] Of course, the other gospels were written to inform as the eye witnesses died off. How would Judas have fitted into this picture?
I am totally fed up of mindless books for the terminally simple and feeble TV programmes on National Geographic or The History Channel putting this kind of rubbish forward as if it has some historical value for Christianity. It has none whatsoever.

Text of my letter to the Yorkshire Post.

From a lower class background in the first instance where my parents were concerned, I could actually claim to be from true 'peasant stock' if I were to go back a further generation.
My wife is the daughter of a semi-skilled steelworker.
What we have in common is that the John Leggott Grammar School (as was) in Scunthorpe, lifted us and took us to university long before 'dumbing down' had become the prime social aim for the liberal left.
As a youngster I could not believe that grammar schooling was being phased out, so I wish to add several points to the debate now that I have experienced three different systems.
I fully accept that secondary moderns were often lacking but their improvement and leaving the grammar schools alone would have been the obvious way forward.
Sadly, grammar school provision was inconsistent throughout the nation and the often excellent technical schools were far from universal.
The biggest problem that comprehensives have caused arose from the disastrous slogan "A grammar school education for all."
I thought of this many times when teaching unwanted languages and causing unnecessary suffering to generations of pupils of very low ability so that this slogan might be applied.
Obviously, comprehensive schools have been forced to set and stream in order to put a sticking plaster over the countless problems - and it is just not enough. Ethos is all important.
Perhaps ironically, I now teach mixed ability in a tiny independent school and there it can and does work but only because class sizes are capped at 16 pupils and are often smaller.

Wrong: simply wrong.

'Two young children are to be adopted by a gay couple, despite the protests of their grandparents.
The devastated grandparents were told they would never see the youngsters again unless they dropped their opposition.
The couple, who cannot be named, wanted to give the five-year-old boy and his four year old sister a loving home themselves. But they were ruled to be too old - at 46 and 59.
For two years they fought for their rights to care for the children, whose 26-year- old mother is a recovering heroin addict.
They agreed to an adoption only after they faced being financially crippled by legal bills.
The final blow came when they were told the children were going to a gay household, even though several heterosexual couples wanted them.
When the grandfather protested, he was told: 'You can either accept it, and there's a chance you'll see the children twice a year, or you can take that stance and never see them again.'

As a Christian who actually believes in following God's Word, I know that homosexuality is unquestionably a sin.
As a democrat, I believe that people must make their own decisions - after all, it is they who must answer to God, not me.
As a fairminded man, I have no desire to see persecution of people just because they are homosexual, indeed I have several friends who are homosexual.
It is utterly wrong however, that people who have adopted a particular lifestyle, which by necessity does not include breeding, should be permitted to adopt children.
Lines must be drawn - and here, a line has been crossed.
We shall now be assailed from the liberal left with the 'human rights' of the homosexual couple involved, but please note that this can only be achieved by trampling on the rights of the grandparents!

Right on Herb!

"Blessed are the young, for they shall inherit the national debt."

Herbert Hoover; a man who really knew what he was talking about!

Come on UKIP!

UKIP is gaining members because of Ken Clarke's return to the Tory front bench. "Clarke's views on Europe are so out of line with the bulk of the Tory Party membership that they simply cannot stand being in the same party any more." said Nigel Farage, UKIP leader.
Mike Nattrass, UKIP MEP for the West Midlands said "Only UKIP is firmly committed to leaving the EU so that we can be free and independent once again." "Tory MEPs consistently transfer power to the EU and that Tory policy is confirmed by Clark's return."
The first defector in the West Midlands is Denis Allen. A former Mayor of Wellington, a town councillor in Wellington, a councillor on Telford and Wrekin Unitary Authority and former cabinet member there.

Cannabis information abuse.

This Blog has attacked cannabis, its users and its apologists for the best part of three years.
This noxious substance is a wolf-in-sheep's-clothing and on the day that a foolish government finally admits its mistake and returns this crap to the category B status that it should never have lost, we find out about education authorities putting out booklets which effectively advertise the stuff!
It is simply beyond belief.
When will those sensible people who vote for the liberal left get the message that these people are not on our side as a society.
(Once again, my libertarianism-lite is slipping.)

Making Major's government look like rank amateurs!

'The figures were revealed as four Labour peers are investigated over claims they were ready to take large sums to amend legislation. One, Lord Taylor of Blackburn, was forced to apologise yesterday after he was revealed in secret recordings to have said that an annual payment of £100,000 was ‘cheap for what I do’. '

Millwall must pay.

Following the dreadful violence and vandalism perpetrated by rioting Millwall fans last Saturday at Hull's KC Stadium, questions will need to be asked.
Why did the police not act against the rioters? Why did they just stand to one side and watch them? Why no baton charge as would have happened in possibly every other country in the world? [Ah. Human Rights, eh? - Our sick interpretation.]
What will now be Millwall's punishment? I am fully aware that there is a massive distinction between the very decent people who run the Millwall club and a tiny minority of verminous supporters.
Suggestions:
1] Millwall are pushing for promotion. They should have points deducted - I would suggest six.
2] Alternatively, they could be barred from next season's FA Cup - but not perhaps the best solution as the punishment is too distant from the crime.
3] A further possibility would be to ban the sale of away tickets to all Millwall fans until the end of the season. This would necessarily have Millwall reimbursing the home clubs concerned for loss of revenue.
4] Naturally, any perpetrators identified on camera must receive a life ban.

A fine to the club does little to help.
Genuine travelling supporters must learn that they must alienate and ostracise these worthless low lifes or their club's future success will be derailed.

Quite!

Actions have consequences.

Possibly the most important physical thing we do during our all too brief stay on this planet is to mate and continue the species.
The creation of life is a thing of awe; something of wonder and magnificence and yet our modern world has wantonly devalued it; demeaned it and stripped it of value and meaning.

In the name of sexual freedom, we have determined that the consequences of getting pregnant when unmarried; when not able to offer a stable home environment should be minimal to the one who gets pregnant, as well as to the father and to the parents of the irresponsible.

Consequences are minimised by that horror which is abortion; by the allocation of housing and benefits to those whose irresponsibility we cover but unwanted pregnancies continue to multiply in our ever failing society.

There are solutions which would have the liberal do-gooders going apoplectic - but I could live with the thought!

They have us over a moral barrel by saying that 'we must not harm the illegitimate children - as it is not their fault'. And they are quite right.
I am unconvinced that hosts of teens being fed into council flats along with their fatherless offspring who are brought up learning to live off benefits is that much of a solution. The situation is greatly exacerbated when the single mother recognises the advantages from the benefits system of having even more children brought up in an environment which breeds crime, educational failure, drug abuse and a perpetuation of this appalling situation.
The circle of dependency must be broken. Little can be done with the current crop of single mothers but teenagers from now onwards should be told that benefits for irresponsibility will be massively reduced. Having children in undesirable environments must be discouraged by the state which must take most of the blame for having devalued marriage.

In future there should be very few benefits for unmarried mothers. Grandparents must take their part of the responsibility or the girls must go into hostels where they will be supplied with a basic care for themselves and professional care to ensure that their children do not grow up to be truly disadvantaged as is currently the case and allows so many children to drift tragically into the underclass.
Such actions would act as a major disincentive.

A morally based sex education is essential and the consequences of pregnancy must be spelled out.
The virile young studs who are so eager to have sex without consequences need to be brought to account and find that their ever willing supply of sexual partners is suddenly curtailed.

If any say that the abortion rate would rise as a consequence - I must note that even if the terms of the 1968 Abortion Act were kept to the letter, in such circumstances, abortion rates would plummet.

Adoptions for childless couples should be freed from the constraints of the present political correctness which beset them.

If that were done, the feminist slogan of 'every child a wanted child' would have little currency in the abortion debate.

I have made suggestions to disincentivise this appalling damage done to our society. If you do not like my ideas - come up with something better!
At least mine would work without being too unfair to the individuals nor to the society which has to pick up the tab in every direction.

No excuse left to avoid going to Church!

The Nanny State.

Many people think that the Nanny State is just an irritation. But from 'health fascism' to over-regulation, and from over-the-top Health and Safety Legislation to governments subverting the role of parents and individuals, it is something considerably more sinister.
All you have to do is to ask yourself whether you believe that our puppet government (along with its EU masters) is: A} Benevolent or B} Self-serving?
Once this question has been posed and our experience has roundly rejected 'A' as even a possibility, it is easy to see that The Nanny State is not some philanthropic body which has 'lost its way a little' but rather a mechanism for control; a control which is moving inexorably towards the Stalinist goal of removing all decision-making from the populace.
It is simply one more tool used to erode our few remaining, democratic freedoms.

Dangers of the Eurozone!

What happens when you have a moral vacuum in our classrooms.

'The number of abortions performed on teenage girls who have had at least one before has risen by almost 70 per cent since 1991, fuelling fears that terminations are being carried out for lifestyle reasons.'

The photo, believe it or not, is of a 12 week aborted foetus. In the UK this child could be aborted legally 12 weeks later than this!

Pause for thought.

Brown is worse than appalling.

'Gordon Brown yesterday admitted he had failed to foresee the economic meltdown which has become Britain's worst in 29 years.'
How odd. A man noted (largely by himself, of course) for his 'fiscal prudence' could not see it coming.
My knowledge of economics is somewhat basic but I could - and did!
Proof of my claim is found both within this Blog and from my own financial adviser.

How many?

My Dad was a police officer for almost 30 years with his career ending in 1978.
He was efficient and rarely desk bound yet in all of that period, he never once had to make a drugs arrest.
What can we learn about what has been allowed to happen to our society 30 years further down the line, I wonder.

Yorkshire Post Today - a perspective.

From: Philip Margolis, Stonegate Road, Leeds.

SHOULDN'T Hamas be investigated for war crimes? For years, they have been firing on Israeli civilian populations. That is a war crime. Using women and children as human shields is a war crime. Using hospitals, schools and private homes to conduct a war is a war crime. Storage of weapons in mosques and schools is a war crime. When will the demonisation of Israel in the media stop and a balanced debate take place?

Oops! Forgot £103,000 because of workload.

"Peter Hain was guilty of 'serious and substantial' failures in not registering donations to his Labour deputy leadership campaign, the MPs' sleaze watchdog has ruled.
The Commons Standards and Privileges Committee said the scale of the rule breach, in which the minister failed to declare £103,000 of donations, 'justified public concern'."

So now we know. And him such a genuine chap too!
(I do hope that his constipation gets better soon.)

Silly allegations damage teaching.

There is an excellent article in today's Mail which I commend to you.
It deals with why junior schools have so many problems in recruiting male staff.
The fear of false allegations of paedophilia being directed at staff by the malicious and slanderous remains a prime cause.
As a nation, we pay an enormous price for this unhappy state of affairs.
Too many children are already brought up in environments without a male role model - now it appears that they must wait until they reach secondary school age.

Longevity lulls into a false sense of security.

In the days when you were unlikely to reach your three score years and ten; when infant mortality rates were through the roof; when you were under constant threat of losing members of your family to disease, people were considerably more aware of their own mortality and acted accordingly.
The more distant death appears to be, the less spiritually aware the population becomes. The problem is that dying older does not mean that death has gone away.
What happens after death used to be so much more of an immediate issue. Today, with people surviving on average until their 80s, there is no real incentive to be 'right with God' unless some crisis occurs. This is one of the downsides of living in a modern society.
The trouble is, that after 75 years or so on this planet, it becomes increasingly hard to shed the bad habits of a lifetime.

Atheism.

That somebody chooses to be an atheist is entirely a matter between them and God. They will ultimately - and tragically - find out the truth which genuine Christians have already discovered experientially in this life.
The propagation of atheism is quite something else. In spite of the pseudo-scientific protestations to the contrary - God CANNOT be disproved. Proving a negative is always difficult at the best of times and their problem is compounded by the fact that God does in fact exist.
In order to decry my personal and ongoing experience, they are forced to declare me, and indeed all born again believers, to be either liars, deluded or mentally ill.
The astonishing hubris, based on what is simply their guess versus my reality, is almost beyond belief.
With atheism now on the sides of buses to propagandise the terminally gullible over and above what has already been done to so many in their 'comprehensive' education, it is no surprise that Letters Pages on Ceefax and Teletext are currently riddled with a stream of dogmatic, atheistic ignorance and arrogance.

Obama.

Terrified as I am by Obama's leftwing liberalism, I refuse to mock him for stumbling over the presidential oath at his inauguration yesterday.
It was a high pressure event of major importance and these little slips will inevitably occur.
I myself speak well in public but am not free of mental blocks on occasion.
The world media, comedians and satirists will undoubtedly be equally magnanimous and will not pretend that this makes him some sort of joke; a kind of mindless buffoon, in fact.
There will be other slip ups from time to time - of course there will, and the press will be equally forgiving.
They would never dream of mocking and reviling somebody on such slender grounds - with the possible exception, of course, of a scenario where the President is a Republican and called Bush.

Evolution? - Polystrate fossils do not agree!

Mark Isaak, evolutionist, refutes the problems caused to uniformitarian geology by polystrate fossils with this piece of disingenuous nonsense: " Sudden deposition is not a problem for uniformitarian geology. Single floods can deposit sediments up to several feet thick. Furthermore, trees buried in such sediments do not die and decay immediately; the trunks can remain there for years or even decades."

Here is the point. The existence of polystrate fossils is the largest single embarrassment for those who follow the evolutionary hypothesis. Think about it. How can a tree stand upright and have its branches gradually covered by '400 million years' worth of geological deposits. Do trees not rot over 400 million years?

"Decades", indeed! John Mackay, (pictured above) the geologist and expert in coal formations, is one of the world's leading experts on polystrate fossils.
Note how the evolutionist brazenly ignores polystrate fossils which have been found
to go through what they claim to be 400 million years old rock.

Make up your mind! Either decades - which makes sense - or your 400 million years, which certainly do not.

Gene Robinson - more specifically.

"But now, speaking to The New York Times about the prayer at the Lincoln Memorial, he said “I am very clear that this will not be a Christian prayer, and I won’t be quoting Scripture or anything like that.” And true to his word, there was no reference to Jesus Christ, only a vague post-modern deism with the reference to the”God of our many understandings". This relativism is a fundamental rejection of the earliest and most fundamental Christian confession that ‘Jesus Christ is Lord’. It substitutes in the place of the Lordship of Jesus the worship of a god of our understanding who will ultimately be simply the god I choose to make for myself or, more likely, the god powerful and influential others chose for me – in other words, it is idolatry."
Charles Raven.

Coastguards.

Coastguards are now unable to start a rescue until they fill out a healthy and safety assessment.
Health & Safety has now become a joke. It is no longer a question of "Health & Safety gone mad" but rather "Health & Safety in need of being committed to an asylum!"

Please give us the creditS.

I am getting increasingly cross with TV producers and programme makers in general who will not permit us to know who is performing in their particular piece.
Rare in the extreme are the programmes which show the main characters' photo or clip at the beginning with the name below so we know precisely who it is.
There is a silly preference for giving a jumble of unexplained names.

This has long been the annoying case but sadly, matters have worsened dramatically of late, as we are no longer allowed to check who the participants are at the end of the programme.
One thing which is now a regular is to take the credits and shrink them to a third of the size so that clips from the next programme can be added.
Secondly, credits now go past at the speed of one of The Lone Ranger's silver bullets. They are simply impossible to read.
When both of these points are combined - as they frequently are - the frustration is appalling.
In addition to being unable to identify actors unless the programme was recorded and on pause, how often are you able to identify any piece of music contained therein - including the main theme?

Casey should be right but ...

It is not the responsibility of the government, or the legal system, to protect a citizen from himself.

Cameron proves that he is not to be trusted.

So Cameron has brought the appalling, and desperately over-rated Ken Clarke into his shadow cabinet as Business Secretary.
That of course is Mr Cameron's business and his choice.

BUT, never allow him to crow of his party's euro-realism in the future as he most assuredly will when the EU elections approach. He has nailed his colours to a particular mast - now he must accept that he will be judged accordingly.

No cabinet containing this europhile can ever claim to be in tune with the majority in this country who want a distancing from the European Union.

What a sad world.

BBC presenter Jeremy Vine has spoken candidly about the problems of combining a successful radio career with his Christian faith.
He admitted that he avoided discussing the subject on air, saying it is now 'almost socially unacceptable to say you believe in God'.
The Radio 2 and Panorama host, a practising Anglican, added that 'blurting out' his religious beliefs would be 'destructive' to his job.

All too true, I'm afraid!

Sickening.

British scientists have been given permission to treat stroke victims with stem cells from aborted babies.

Well - they're already dead ain't they? Not doing anybody any good as they are, innit?

If it were people with an IQ at the same level as their shoe size, this would perhaps be understandable but this comes from our godless, repulsive, political elite who possess no grasp of morality whatsoever.

Social Improvement.

Over the last half century living standards have improved beyond all recognition in the UK. We have grown to accept variety, the exotic, amazing technologies and wonderful breakthroughs in medical fields.
Most organisations which deal with the public have altered their systems to make them 'consumer friendly' and yet ... and yet ...

Firstly, we have paid a terrible price for all of this opulence. Almost all of these 'advances' have a 'downside'; they act as a two-edged sword which we tend so easily not to recognise.
We have lost so much. We are an arrogant people now; we believe in man ahead of God and need to use a misdirected political correctness to get people to act with any degree of propriety at all - it cannot work.
We are beset by crime, overcrowding,'summat for nowt' philosophies and we possess a belief that the universe revolves around us.
Our society is decadent, introverted and increasingly undemocratic. Whatever happened to simple decency? It is disappearing at a frightening rate. We have foolishly allowed the political class to have increasing powers over the direction of our lives.
Secondly - I wonder if the whole illusion may be revealed as just that. Is the bubble about to burst? - Certainly, we have never been closer to that point!

Peter Hitchens on poverty.

This awesome mind has written the definitive article on the realities of poverty in the UK and how the entire concept is misused by Labour.
I do wish however, that he had made it clearer that this is the opinion of the whole of our left-leaning, political class.

Super - but I'm guessing it's apocryrphal.

In Florida, an atheist created a case against the upcoming Easter and Passover holy days. He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case against Christians, Jews and observances of their holy days. The argument was that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized days. The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring,"Case dismissed!" The lawyer immediately stood objecting to the ruling saying, "Your honor [tut!], how can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter and others. The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah, yet my client and all other atheists have no such holidays." The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, "But you do. Your client, counsel, is woefully ignorant." The lawyer said, "Your Honor, we are unaware of any special observance or holiday for atheists." The judge said, "The calendar says April 1st is April Fools Day. Psalm 14:1 states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.' Thus, it is the opinion of this court, that if your client says there is no God, then he is a fool. Therefore, April 1st is his day. Court is adjourned.
You gotta love a Judge that knows his scripture!

Proverbs 31:10.

Proverbs 31:10.(NIV)

"A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies."

Got one!

Brown versus Thatcher.

Blair admired her but learned nothing from her. Brown is of that relatively 'old' left who will probably despise her.
Derek Hatton is just a nasty-minded individual and in his attitudes displays a demeanour which is all too common amongst dyed-in-the-wool leftists.
Cameron has no concept of what she accomplished.
But here is the question : How many people would prefer a 50 year old Margaret Thatcher to the current PM, to be entrusted to get us out of Brown's mess? [Cameron is an irrelevance.]
Common sense dictates that it would have to be a Thatcher but I suspect that the vote would be an extremely close one.
Far too many people in our wiffly waffly, soft under-bellied society would take the easy option - even though it would cost us dearly in the longer term.
This is what happens when you have an electorate, the majority of whom, will not vote for the 'right' thing but only for the immediate difference made in their pockets.

As ever - Melanie should be read.

Okay but ....

Sacking a fireman for being overweight and not doing enough to remedy the situation is perfectly reasonable.
One must ask however, in today's politically correct Fire Service, whether this would have happened if his skin colour had been different or if he had happened to be female.
Tragically, I think we all know the answer to that one!

Good news for once.

If we don't believe - then more fool us!

"We do not believe in evil any more, only evil acts, which can be explained away by the science of the mind ... "
John Connolly.

The problem here is that we all know and recognise evil. It is for that reason that we are in such desperate need of a redeemer. These are matters for which science, despite the lofty hubris of its adherents, can never supply answers.

One might also ask how evil can possibly exist in vacuo. How can there be evil acts without there being evil in its own right?
Evil is not even a mere concept but rather a reality which only the truly foolish dare deny.
[To be fair to Connolly - he doesn't accept the validity of the statement either - but he captures a view which is largely found amongst the liberal left.]

Bye bye Bush.

I have entertained grave reservations about George Bush in a number of different policy areas.
I am aware too that he is a man whose tendencies to make grammatical slipups has made him a prime target but I feel that history will be kinder to him than recent political commentators.
He is certainly far from stupid as even a cursory glance at his qualifications reveals.

Think how it was only after Reagan's departure that assessments of his terms in office became positive and without doubt, he had been a president of quality and vision.
Just because the left-leaning media are brilliant at attacking their bêtes noires does not mean that we should all fall into line with the destination they are marching us towards.
Ann Leslie is usually somebody whose feet are firmly planted on the ground and so I think her assessment is worth a look.

American yes - but it applies here.

Can our form of government, our system of justice, survive if one can be denied a freedom because he might abuse it?

Sentamu tells it like it is - again!

'Immigrants to Britain in the past five decades have been treated like hotel guests who 'do not belong', the Archbishop of York said yesterday.
Dr John Sentamu said the failure of migrants to integrate had contributed to the collapse of a common British culture and the lack of a national sense of direction.
He called for recognition of the Christian heritage which used to bind the nation together and for a revival of the civic values once represented by myriad local clubs, churches and trade unions.
The Archbishop's powerful attack on uncontrolled immigration and on the Left-wing interpretation of multiculturalism that encourages migrants to ignore traditional British values, was made in a speech to Gordon Brown's think tank, the Smith Institute.'

The UK Independence Party is a non racist party; it fields candidates from ethnic minorities; it will not permit former members of the BNP to hold office or to represent them [unlike Labour, of course] and is open to all.
Yet it is so often portrayed as 'racist' by the guardianistas. Why so?

Perhaps demanding proper immigration control is all that it takes but I suspect that the motive is rather more sinister.
There are so many people of liberal inclination who, nonetheless, are anti EU.
We wouldn't want these particular sheep slipping out of the fold and into that very broad church which is UKIP, would we?

Best thing to do therefore is to portray UKIP as "BNP in suits". - There, that should do it!

Let's examine Labour's successes.

The provision of hospital beds in Britain has plunged in the past eight years to one of the lowest levels in Europe.
The number of beds per person has dropped 14 per cent since 2000 - to below the rate for Latvia, Estonia and Macedonia.
The UK has only 389 hospital beds per 100,000 inhabitants, even when taking into account both private and NHS beds.
Below average: Britain is ranked 25th on the provision of hospital beds
This is well below the EU average of 590 beds per 100,000 inhabitants.
The UK is ranked 25th out of 32 European countries. Only Cyprus, Portugal, Denmark, Spain, Sweden, Turkey and Malta perform worse.

Palestine - the facts.

"It's our land...By: Benjamin Netanyahu. Apparently, Benjamin Netanyahu gave an interview and was asked about Israel's occupation of Arab lands. His response was "It's our land". The reporter was stunned - read below "It's our land..."

(It takes just 1.5 minutes to read!!!! It makes sense and it's not slanted. Jew and non-Jew -- it doesn't matter.)
"Crash Course on the Arab Israeli Conflict."
Here are some overlooked facts in the current Middle East situation. These were compiled by a Christian university professor:

20 BRIEF FACTS ON THE ISRAELI CONFLICT TODAY:

1. Nationhood and Jerusalem. Israel became a nation in 1312 BCE, Two thousand years before the rise of Islam.
2. Arab refugees in Israel began identifying themselves as part of a Palestinian people in 1967, two decades after the establishment of the modern State of Israel.
3. Since the Jewish conquest in 1272 BCE, the Jews have had dominion over the land for one thousand years with a continuous presence in the land for the past 3,300 years.
4. The only Arab dominion since the conquest in 635 CE lasted no more than 22 years.
5. For over 3,300 years, Jerusalem has been the Jewish capital Jerusalem has never been the capital of any Arab or Muslim entity. Even when the Jordanians occupied Jerusalem, they never sought to make it their capital, and Arab leaders did not come to visit.
6. Jerusalem is mentioned over 700 times in Tanach, the Jewish Holy Scriptures. Jerusalem is not mentioned once in the Koran.
7. King David founded the city of Jerusalem. Mohammed never came to Jerusalem.
8. Jews pray facing Jerusalem. Muslims pray with their backs toward Jerusalem.
9. Arab and Jewish Refugees: in 1948 the Arab refugees were encouraged to leave Israel by Arab leaders promising to purge the land of Jews. Sixty-eight percent left without ever seeing an Israeli soldier.
10 The Jewish refugees were forced to flee from Arab lands due to Arab brutality, persecution and pogroms.
11. The number of Arab refugees who left Israel in 1948 is estimated to be around 630,000. The number of Jewish refugees from Arab lands is estimated to be the same.
12. Arab refugees were INTENTIONALLY not absorbed or integrated into the Arab la nds to which they fled, despite the vast Arab territory. Out of the 100,000,000 refugees since World War II, theirs is the only refugee group in the world that has never been absorbed or integrated into their own people's lands. Jewish refugees were completely absorbed into Israel, a country no larger than the state of New Jersey .
13. The Arab-Israeli Conflict: the Arabs are represented by eight separate nations, not including the Palestinians. There is only one Jewish nation. The Arab nations initiated all five wars and lost. Israel defended itself each time and won.
14. The PLO's Charter still calls for the destruction of the State of Israel. Israel has given the Palestinians most of the West Bank land, autonomy under the Palestinian Authority, and has supplied them.
15. Under Jordanian rule, Jewish holy sites were desecrated and the Jews were denied access to places of worship. Under Israeli rule, all Muslim and Christian sites have been preserved and made accessible to people of all faiths.
16. The UN Record on Israel and the Arabs: of the 175 Security Council resolutions passed before 1990, 97 were directed against Israel.
17. Of the 690 General Assembly resolutions voted on before 1990, 429 were directed against Israel.
18. The UN was silent while 58 Jerusalem Synagogues were destroyed by the Jordanians.
19. The UN was silent while the Jordanians systematically desecrated the ancient Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives.
20. The UN was silent while the Jordanians enforced an apartheid-like a policy of preventing Jews from visiting the Temple Mount and the Western Wall.

My thanks to Dr Alan Clifford.

An opposite view which contains a number of valid points. I do not accept the main thrust of the argument but for the sake of balance....

Gene.

Mr Obama has listened to the extremest elements of the liberal church and has appointed New Hampshire’s Bishop Gene Robinson to open the first inaugural event with a prayer this coming Sunday at the Lincoln Memorial.

Quelle surprise!

What should not surprise us however, about the heretical cleric is that he also said he would not use the name of Jesus in his prayer, lest it cause offence.

Looking handsome and not being George Bush seem to have got this ridiculous man elected to the most important post in the world.

Regular readers will recall that I supported Obama until I found out that he actually supports everything this Blog exists to attack.

Psalm 97 - an encouragement.

10] The Lord loves those who hate evil; he guards the lives of his faithful; he rescues them from the hand of the wicked. 11] Light dawns for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart. 12] Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous, and give thanks to his holy name!

James Purnell: job creator extraordinaire.

Indubitably, Brown has created jobs. They have been for bureaucrats, the non-productive and of course, in quangos.
His clone, James Purnell, is putting together a package to prove to the unemployed that Gord 'has not forgotten them'. Sweet!
Just two points though:
1] Where are the real jobs?
2] How come that such large percentages - in numerical terms, at least - have gone to new immigrants?

Right all along!

'Labour allowed a ‘free-for-all’ on immigration during its first years in power, a Cabinet minister has admitted.
Large numbers of economic migrants were let into the country claiming they were asylum seekers, Communities Secretary Hazel Blears said.'

Oh! So all those of us vilified as racist for pointing this out WERE right.
Trouble is - the damage is now done and the stable door remains open.

Good news for UKIP?

Almost two-thirds of voters want a significant loosening of Britain's ties with the European Union including an end to the supremacy of the European Court of Justice, a new opinion poll reveals.

Interestingly, the UKIP is showing at almost double the percentage that polls were showing five months before their successful 2004 campaign which embarrassed the Lib Dems so badly and did little good for Labour and the pro-EU tories.
Many conservatives will switch to UKIP because of the pro EU stance of their party.
If people were actually to vote for what they want in the EU elections in June - UKIP would easily emerge as the largest party.

Sadly, most voters will still vote for X or Y - For what reason? - "Because I always vote for them!" That is the single biggest reason why our politics is in such a mess and why tragically, people do get the government they deserve.

Could you make it up?

Gordon Brown is into job creation at the moment - big style!
He has been advertising for a butler to serve drinks at cabinet meetings.
[That noise you keep hearing is Keir Hardy spinning in his grave.]

The job is only £30k per year, so it will not attract anybody of majordomal qualities - just the up-and-comers desperate to improve [?] their CVs.

Butchery in Worcestershire.

There are times when the abolition of the death penalty appears to be one of the greatest mistakes our society has ever made. Yesterday's slaughter in a local Post Office brings the matter into sharp relief.
I can think of no other appropriate penalty for the perpetrators of this act - certainly, with particular regard paid to the cold-blooded vermin who pulled the trigger and arbitrarily removed a life and damaged other members of the victim's family for the remainder of their lives.
It is 100% morally unacceptable that our society grants people the right to slay others in the full freedom and knowledge that their own life will never be under any threat as a consequence.
