Victory for Nadine Dorries Bill

'MPs have voted 67-61 in favour of a ‘Ten Minute Rule’ Bill introduced by Conservative MP Nadine Dorries, which seeks to ensure that sex education for girls in schools includes ‘information and advice on the benefits of abstinence from sexual activity’. The Bill comes in light of high teenage pregnancy rates (the UK has the highest in Western Europe) and a high STD rate, and amidst concerns that the sexualisation of Britain’s young people has been profoundly damaging to their mental and sexual health.'
