A Comprehensive Disaster.

Jack Brown (Yorks Post) was part of a research team in the 80s which researched the educational standards of the LTU. (Long Term Unemployed).
The result was startling and later confirmed by further reseach. One half of this group were functionally illiterate.

With diluted results since then - and I am conscious that GCSEs results are released tomorrow - we can see the abject failure of the comprehensive school system. Against this backcloth, it is impossible that there has been any change for the better.
