Ofsted axes four in ten of its 'failing' inspectors in purge to boost quality of school visits.
Ofsted has announced the dramatic purge as part of a plan to boost the quality and consistency of school visits and written reports. The watchdog will also cut use of freelancers from September onwards. Mail, Mole-In-The-Know uncovered the fact that a school was marked down for 'not doing something' which the school was clearly doing. The school produced a mass of evidence that what they said was correct - and the arrogant inspector REFUSED to even look at it! After the matter was appealed, in one of the most bizarre decisions ever seen, OFSTED took their own man's side! (I heard of a second school having had similar problems - although I am not sure that he reduced three lady staff to tears by his manner in that establishment. I certainly hope that he was a casualty in these cuts!)
