When Sahar from Iran became a Christian, she understood it was a dangerous decision. "I knew, if my husband realised I’d become a Christian, he would really get angry," she says. "There was real possibility of divorce and surely my children would have been taken away because of me being an ex-Muslim." As a female convert, she would have no rights. Like millions of women around the world, Sahar faces persecution for her faith and is particularly vulnerable because of her gender. Ordeals like hers are hidden - the world around usually doesn't even notice. Sahar's story includes being thrown out of home, sent to prison and forced to flee the country - but she is seeing change, thanks to people like you. Open Doors. |
