Libya Arrests Four Suspected Christian Missionaries. By Anugrah Kumar

Libyan authorities have arrested four foreigners on suspicion of distributing Christian books and proselytizing in the eastern city of Benghazi. Evangelism in the "100 percent Muslim" nation is a crime, assert police, who have allowed Islamist extremists to drive Christian out of Libya. Christian Post.

Problems For Cleggy?

Lord RennardThe Deputy Prime Minister has been dragged into the sex scandal surrounding a top Liberal Democrat accused of molesting women. Amid mounting claims of a cover-up, it emerged Nick Clegg's private office was made aware of the claims as long as five years ago. Aides to the Lib Dem leader refused to say how much he knew about the allegations that former party chief Chris Rennard (pictured left) had groped a string of female activists, including Alison Smith (top right) and Bridget Harris (bottom left). Ukip Progress?

We were told 15 - 30,000 Poles would come to the UK. This was perhaps the worst piece of government political forecasting in the last 70 years when the figure was a huge amount above half a million.
Next January, the doors are being thrown open to Bulgarians & Rumanians who may well come in millions.
Labour & Lib Dems smile benignly as if nothing is out of the ordinary on these overcrowded islands. The Greens say 'Oh, jolly good!'
The tories are shuffling nervously.
Blog prediction! This could be what launches UKIP from third place in the polls to being a realistic challenger for office. (I really did not want social chaos to be the mechanism to bring Ukip to power.)
Surely, Ukip will win the EU elections in June 2014. That will be a launch pad for council success and maybe some Westminster seats in 2015.

The election after that one, you can stick your conman referenda - the Ukip manifesto to free us from our EU shackles may well prevail.
A pipe dream? - Two years ago you would have said 'yes'. Today ...?

Legalising Cannabis.

Transform Drug Policy Foundation has released results from an Ipsos MORI poll showing that 53% of the British public are ready to 'legalise or decriminalise' cannabis. Huffington Post.
Firstly - I think that this is one of those polls with questions 'rigged' to get a particular answer from a specific demographic. When these results are repeated across a much wider range, only then shall I become concerned.
Secondly - Abortion polls have long been 'rigged' by lumping together 'abortion on demand' alongside 'abortion post rape' and 'saving the life of the mother'. By using this egregious technique, support for abortion is seen as being much higher than in fact is the case.
Thirdly - If there is any significant support for legalisation of cannabis out there - education is a must. Schools must review their presentations of this most dangerous of psychosis-inducing drugs.
Finally - Perhaps I am not as far across towards to libertarian positions as I had previously thought.

Vicky Pryce trial: have juries had their day in court?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/9885995/Vicky-Pryce-trial-have-juries-had-their-day-in-court.html
An inevitable consequence of social 'dumbing down'? - Probably and reported on the same day as we are told that universities will accept lower 'A' level grades in order to maximise social engineering.
When a meritocracy is replaced by 'special pleading', social decline is guaranteed.

Inflation.

Consumer Price Index data released yesterday showed that inflation slowed in January to 1.4% in France, down from 1.5%, and 1.9% in Germany, down from 2%, potentially putting greater pressure on the ECB to cut interest rates further.FT CityAM
Along with many EU neighbours, Spain tells lies about inflationary levels.
We just got back from Spain last night and the incredible mess that they are in in does not seem to be translating into any lower prices at all! Quite the contrary.
Take one example out of many - DOMTI. This is a shop for all those bits and pieces you need in every home.
The basic price for the majority of items has long been 60 cents or maybe a euro.
The day before yesterday we struggled to find anything under a whopping TWO euros! Consider that as a percentage increase!
The philosophy is the opposite of 'pile it high and sell it cheap.'
They clearly take the view that they could lose 40% of customers and would still be much better off. Not a great principle for the consumer!
Incidentally, Spain is claiming an annual inflation rate of 2.68%.

Change: Good Or Bad?

The simple answer is that 'Change in itself, is neutral .'
In my lifetime, I have seen too many changes before they were demonstrably needed.
There can be a simple rule of thumb brought into play: No change which cannot be proven to be an improvement should be tolerated and the other side of that same coin is, 'If it ain't broke then don't fix it!'
Politicians, do-gooders, meddlers, interferers, proponents of the Nanny State and those who seek self-aggrandisement are the ones who have been the donkeys to our lions over generations.
Our system makes it far too easy for what is effectively the bureaucratic mentality, to hold sway.

Turkey.

Germany’s European Commissioner Günther Oettinger has said that “I bet that within the next decade a German Chancellor together with their French counterpart will crawl on their knees to Ankara to asks the Turks to be ‘friends and join us”. FAZ Süddeutsche Bild

UKIP - Too Much 'Grist For Their Mill?'

Preliminary agreement on 2014-2020 EU budget sees cut to EU spending for first time;
UK rebate remains intact as Germany comes down on the side of Northern bloc. Open Europe.

Hmm. Certainly looks as if they are getting scared that UKIP would be getting too much political grist for their mill.

What Is Political Correctness?

Spain & The UK - Differences With Immigration et al.

Spain is a very large country - the UK is not.
Spain has a much lower population than the UK.
Spain welcomes immigrants with money because they have sunshine whereas in the UK we get very few.
I had this confirmed whilst listening to Spanish local radio yesterday. A councillor was getting excited by the prospect that Russian expats are now moving into the Costa Blanca.
So much for the leftists who are unable to distinguish these obvious differences.
Our leftists have also got to take a huge proportion of the blame for so many people desperate to quit the UK at retirement age - taking their money with them! (It ain't just the sunshine.)
At my house in Spain I look at what I pay for 'rates' - and then what we get back - and there is just no comparison.
Here, we get poor service for astronomically high rates.
There we get pretty good service for peanuts.
