The Bishop of Liverpool, Paul Bayes, has ramped up pressure on the Church of England to allow clergy to bless same-sex relationships by making the controversial call for a "gender neutral marriage canon".
The call comes in advance of elections to the governing body, the General Synod, where evangelicals are seeking to increase numbers in a bid to protect the doctrine of the Church.
Speaking to a national conference on Saturday for revisionist activists in the CofE, Bishop Bayes said: "I want to see a gender-neutral marriage canon, such as they have in the Episcopal Church (in the US) or in the Scottish Episcopal Church. CT.

Age of The Earth?
Secular timescales for the age of the earth are based on the false idea that there were no catastrophic events in the past.
Stop and imagine what a mega asteroid strike would do to the alleged long term layers slow deposition. It would damage and stir up beyond all recognition. Mega volcanoes? Earthquakes? Tsunamis?
We have seen what a Mount St Helens can do in modern history. (1980.) Yet existing strata - a mere 41 years old - could so easily have been calculated as being countless years old had we not known otherwise.
Surtsey is an Icelandic island which meets almost all the criteria for having been formed over millions of years but was actually caused by volcanic eruption in 1967! It has a very complete eco system.
The problem is the unfailing belief that all places work to a steady, never/rarely changing process called uniformitarianism.
The evidence across more than 500 ancient cultures for a global flood is certainly compelling and in countless places is backed up by the geology but, of course, the obvious is scrapped when it does not fit pre-conceived criteria.
You thought long ages for the earth must be believed or you are guilty of intellectual suicide? Well there is a tiny number of scientists - not all Christians, I must add - who do not believe what we are told that we MUST accept as fact by the powers that be in science and education. Five years too late! Electoral Commission finally apologises for Leave voter witch hunt.
THE Electoral Commission's chairman has finally apologised for subjecting Brexiteers to a witch hunt after the 2016 referendum. John Pullinger, the watchdog’s new boss, has admitted that Vote Leave activists were subjected to "horrible" experiences that must never be repeated. His remarks are the first public apology by a senior figure over the way it pursued pro-Brexit activists such as Darren Grimes. The 27-year-old Brexiteer faced multiple investigations by the Commission and a criminal probe by the Met Police over several years before being cleared.
Speaking to the Telegraph, Mr Pullinger said: “Darren Grimes is one that stands out.
"I've looked very carefully at that ... he had a horrible time.
"The Commission has apologised for what happened to him and I take this opportunity to apologise again. What happened to him should not have happened."

The sister of murdered MP Jo Cox was today heckled and chased by Muslim protesters over her support for LGBT rights as she campaigned to become the next MP in her sister's old Yorkshire seat. Kim Leadbeater, 45, is standing as the Labour candidate in next Thursday's by-election in Batley & Spen.
The poll was triggered by incumbent Tracy Brabin's decision to stand down to become the new mayor of West Yorkshire. Today, a video shared on Twitter showed Ms Leadbeater defending herself verbally as she was challenged in the street about 'LGBT indoctrination in schools'. Before she walked away to her car and was repeatedly shouted at, she responded: 'This is my community. Don't come here and shout at me in the street. The Muslim community of Batley & Spen deserve better than this.' Mail.

Baby Ralph's heart operation was postponed for several weeks when scheduled to take place last Thursday. He is now poorly and back in hospital. Please pray that the op can go ahead soon and will be a complete success.
Please pray for a very young boy called Seth who is facing much suffering over the next three days as a consequence of some rather heavy duty chemotherapy.
Please pray for Paul who may be facing a death sentence from his cancer doctors.
Please pray for Diane and family as she is worn out following life-saving brain surgery. She may have as much as several months of exhaustion facing her.
Please pray for James who is responding well to chemo and immunotherapy. Unfortunately, the latter has had to be halved due to some horrific rashes all over his body. Pray that this condition may be only temporary.

Killers jailed for ‘senseless’ attack launched after trivial car incident.
Two men have been jailed for the manslaughter of a street attack victim who was punched and kicked after his wife was racially abused.
Jamie Taylor was jailed for four years and Taylor Pountney was given a three-year term for killing 23-year-old Amaan Momand, West Midlands Police said.
The force said Mr Momand was fatally injured as he protected his wife in the Maypole area of Birmingham, suffering one punch and a single kick at about 4.30pm on September 19 2019.
In a statement issued after the defendants were sentenced, officers said racial abuse was shouted at Mr Momand’s wife after the defendants passed her in a car.
Following the attack, passers-by tended to Mr Momand before paramedics arrived and he was taken to hospital in a critical condition, where he died three days later from a head injury.
Taylor and Pountney fled the scene but CCTV footage was used to identify them and track down the red Peugeot car they drove away in.

Pountney, 18, of Trittiford Road, Yardley, Birmingham, was found guilty of manslaughter after a trial at Nottingham Crown Court.
Taylor, 23, of Tidworth Croft, King’s Heath, Birmingham, had previously pleaded guilty to the same charge.
Detective Inspector Michelle Allen said: “Rather than drive away and carry on with their day, this pair chose to get out of the car they were travelling in and confront Mr Momand and his wife just because they’d had to brake to allow the couple to cross a road.
“This is a senseless and tragic incident over a matter so trivial that descended into such significant violence that a man has lost his life.” AOL.

As Wesley Spins In His Grave, The Final Nail Is Hammered Into Methodism's Coffin!
The marriage madness in Methodism.
The annual Conference of the Methodist Church of Great Britain is meeting in Birmingham this week and next, other things it will debate a report entitled "God in Love Unites Us".
The report will be endorsed, unless something spectacular (or miraculous?) happens, as it has already been approved by 29 of the 30 Methodist synods.
The report recommends that the Methodist Church approve of cohabitation and extend its understanding of marriage to "two people" rather than "a man and a woman".
I have Methodist friends who are now wondering if they can remain in the Church and who feel a sense of bereavement as their Church seems to have been hijacked. But are they overreacting? What does the report actually say?
I have read through the whole document and I'm afraid it is worse than has been reported.
It begins with a nice phrase, "We believe that God has made us to be in relationships and has shown us how to flourish through those relationships." Unfortunately, it then goes on to ignore what God has shown us and instead relies more on Stonewall than Scripture.
There are endless pages of meaningless 'theological' waffle. It is, in effect, Alice-in-Wonderland, post-modernist theology where words mean "whatever I want them to mean". There is a lack of reliance on Scripture, which is misused and abused as much in this report as any I have ever read. For example, how can the teaching in Psalm 139 that we are all "fearfully and wonderfully made" be seen as a justification for same-sex marriage or co-habitation? And the report speaks with such authority about Isaiah 56 and Acts 8 as to affirm positively other sexualities.
Rather than regard Scripture as authoritative, the report tells us that it relies for "authoritative commentary" on sexuality from the World Health Organisation (WHO) which it naively describes as "independent". And among other things, the report commends 'queer theology'; tell us that sex is assigned at birth, based on "perceptions" of biology; and that sexual desire is a part of the wider desire for just and loving relationships! In an overpopulated world, sex should no longer be about procreation; gender is a social construct, and although only 2 per cent of people identify in the UK as LGB, the authors of the report believe - without out any evidence - that it is likely to be many more.
There is no concept of our identity coming from God, being made in his image, and, for Christians, being restored in the image of Christ. Instead, we are told that our identity is given us at birth by "those who care for us". Nothing to do with either God or biology apparently. But the simple truth is that my parents, doctors and nurses did not decide as I came into this world 'oh, let's make this one a boy'!
And then of course there is the other great doctrine of the woke progressives: everything is to be determined by "lived experience" – as long as it is the right kind of lived experience.
"We would urge the Methodist Church likewise to recognise the lived realities of the way relationships are practised today," the report reads.
"A failure to do so may ultimately be regarded as hypocrisy, if it simply ignores how its members and adherents are actually leading their lives."
So now we have the Church of John and Charles Wesley, the Church of George Whitefield, telling us that doctrine should be determined by what people want and how they live their lives; not what God says. Nothing here of repentance, renewal, or any idea that what we want might not be what God wants - and might not be good for us.
"We believe that, in awe and humility, the Methodist Church needs to recognise that it is being called by God to take the next steps in the development of its understanding of relationships and marriage," it continues.
"Those steps include enabling people of the same sex to commit themselves to each other in Christian marriage services."
They say that this is being done on the basis of "the promptings of the Spirit in the light of the gospel values and trajectories of development that are recorded in the Scriptures overall".
But this has nothing to do with awe, humility, Scripture, or the Spirit. To claim that the Spirit is guiding them to go against what the Spirit guided the early church to is about as near to blasphemy as you can get.
It's a form of woke fanaticism – or as John Wesley put it: "Try all things by the written word and let all bow down before it. You are in danger of [fanaticism] every hour, if you depart ever so little from Scripture; yea, or from the plain, literal meaning of a text, taken in connection with the context" (Works, 11:429).
The reliance on Stonewall, the WHO, the "lived experience" of some and the doctrines of the current secular Zeitgeist, leads the report into the mistake of rejecting what the Bible teaches in some places as error. Again, Wesley summed up the traditional Methodist doctrine well: "Nay, if there be any mistakes in the Bible, there may as well be a thousand. If there be one falsehood in that book, it did not come from the God of truth" (John Wesley, Journal, 24 July 1776).
Once you reject what Jesus says in Scripture, that makes you less rational, not more. For example, the report suggests, rightly, that no-one should refuse to marry someone because of race. Yet they then go on to say that clergy will be permitted to do so because of sexuality. Given that the Methodist Church will allow same-sex marriage, how can that be perceived as anything other than discrimination? If scripture does not forbid it, then why should individual churches or ministers be permitted to do so? This is an argument that will doubtless resurface in a few years as Methodism continues to 'evolve'.
That is, if the Methodist Church is still here as it does appear to be in terminal decline. There are now only 164,000 people in the UK who are members of the Methodist Church – a decline of 6,000 over the past year. The trajectory is downward - despite boosts from immigration. If the Methodist leaders continue to be guided by the woke ideology of today's elites, rather than the Word of God, that decline will accelerate.
Methodists were involved in the Great Awakening. Yet they are now turning into the church of the great Awokening. The saying 'go woke, go broke' applies to churches as well.
But all is not lost. Some evangelicals are making a stand - although that is anticipated in the report. As in the Church of Scotland and the Church of England, those who are making the policy and who control the denomination need the evangelicals to remain, and so there are the usual pleas for 'unity' and 'disagreeing in love' – even as the denomination changes its doctrines and moves even further away from the Christian faith.
Perhaps the strongest case against the report has been made by Rev Dr David A Hull, who has written The Runaway Train – a Message to Methodists. At the end of the book, he makes this plea: "The British Methodist Church faces a profound moment of decision. It must choose one or the other: to reaffirm the traditional teaching of the Christian church, the teaching of the Bible and its current position; or to abandon it in favour of a secular worldview that is shaped by political pressure groups. Either decision will have profound consequences for the future."
Some will have to leave. Methodist clergy have to affirm that they hold to the doctrines of Methodism. If those doctrines have changed – as they will do if this report is accepted – then to say that you affirm them when you don't, would be a lie. Liberals may find ways to make words mean the opposite of what they say, but no evangelical should play that silly and deceitful game.
This weekend would be a good time for all Christians to pray for our Methodist brothers and sisters. May the Lord strengthen what remains and is about to die. May he grant repentance and a return to the Gospel of the Wesleys and Whitefield – the Gospel of the apostles, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That's the only method that works.

Four-Year Study Helps Confirm Rapid Formation of the Canyon’s Layers by Massive Flooding.

A bedrock belief of evolutionary geologists has been convincingly undermined today with the publication of ground-breaking Grand Canyon research conducted by geologist Dr. Andrew Snelling of Answers in Genesis (AiG).

A scientist with the highest credentials, Dr. Snelling spent more than four years studying layers in the walls of Grand Canyon in Arizona, especially where those rock layers are not lying flat but are folded. Dr. Snelling, a creationist, has just released his stunning findings in the peer-reviewed Answers Research Journal. His research helps confirm a rapid formation of those massive Canyon layers and contradicts the belief that they were formed over millions of years, as is commonly accepted by geologists. Throughout Grand Canyon, thick rock layers appear which are smoothly bent (some close to being at a right angle—see photo). Dr. Snelling observes, “Normally, solid rock cannot bend without breaking, so this leaves only two options for bending: either the rock layer was bent while still soft, shortly after being deposited by water, or after the layer had fully hardened, it was bent by pressures which made the rock plastic, like playdough. Geologists who believe the layers were laid down over millions of years accept the latter option.”
Dr. Snelling points out that for hardened rock to bend without breaking, it must undergo metamorphic changes in its mineral content and structure, including at the microscopic level. At the outset of his research, his question was this: Is there any evidence of the hard rock in the bent layers being metamorphosed?
Dr. Snelling examined samples from two prominent folds in Grand Canyon. His research concluded: “By comparing the Tapeats Sandstone samples from the folds with other Tapeats Sandstone samples located far from the folds, no metamorphism has occurred. Therefore, our four-year research project confirms that these rock layers were bent while they were still soft, after rapid deposition.” Dr. Snelling also concludes, “This is tremendous evidence that the Canyon’s rock layers were laid down during a massive flood and subsequently bent before any of the layers had hardened.” Dr. Snelling suggests this evidence is consistent with the effects of Noah’s flood and its aftermath.
The “uniformitarian” argument—namely, that the layers of rock (or “strata”) at huge canyons like Grand Canyon were laid down over millions of years—has been powerfully challenged by this seminal study of rocks Dr. Snelling personally collected inside the folds of the Canyon.
Dr. Snelling declares: “Observational science tells us that rock layers must be soft when they fold. But over the supposed 450 million years, how could they possibly have remained soft until they were then bent?”
The quandary now for those who argue for millions of years for the Canyon’s layering is this: How could these hard layers, which were bent supposedly 450 million years after they formed, not shatter during the bending process? Dr. Snelling declares: “Observational science tells us that rock layers must be soft when they fold. But over the supposed 450 million years, how could they possibly have remained soft until they were then bent?”
Ken Ham, CEO and founder of AiG, states: “Dr. Snelling’s monumental research confirms what should be obvious to all geologists: such folds must have been formed relatively quickly before the thick rock layers hardened. It’s a major blow to long-age geologic thinking.”
Dr. Snelling, with an earned doctorate in geology from one of the world’s leading institutions, the University of Sydney, had long recognized that more creationist research in geology was needed to explain the formation of the massive layers exposed in canyon systems around the world—and whether they could be explained catastrophically (e.g., massive flooding) as opposed to the dogma of uniformitarian long-age thinking. (The arguments for a global flood, including from Dr. Snelling’s decades of research, are presented at AiG’s attractions, the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum.)
The evolutionists’ story about the formation of Grand Canyon in northern Arizona is that the rock layers at the Canyon were laid down over very long ages. Then the Canyon was carved through them over millions of years by the slow erosive powers of the Colorado River. Because of their dogmatic thinking, officials and academics associated with Grand Canyon National Park tried to prevent Dr. Snelling from conducting this study, expressing disdain in emails about his religious and creationist beliefs. In 2017, international media reported that Dr. Snelling finally received the research permits he had first requested from the park in 2014 so that he could continue his field work inside the Canyon. Presented with the clear-cut, documented evidence of an anti-Christian bias in the permits’ denial, the Departments of Justice and the Interior agreed; the Grand Canyon National Park changed course and issued Dr. Snelling’s research permits.
Ham hailed Dr. Snelling’s research: “This scientist with top credentials has offered powerful new evidence of the rapid formation of Grand Canyon’s layers during the global flood of Noah’s day followed by the Canyon’s quick formation. His superb work exemplifies AiG’s ongoing original research, conducted by full-time PhD scientists from renowned institutions who have published in leading science journals. Our faculty also work in other fields such as genetics, paleontology, and astronomy to help confirm the Genesis account of origins as well as Noah’s flood.”
Research Background
Dr. Snelling collected rock samples on a research trip through the Grand Canyon in August 2017 in order to investigate the nature of the folding of strata in the Canyon. Dr. Snelling stated: “The Tapeats Sandstone is a formation 30–100 meters thick that prominently outcrops through the walls of Grand Canyon for about 500 kilometres. Erosion of the underlying Precambrian basement rocks produced what’s well known in geological circles as the ‘The Great Unconformity,’ upon which the Tapeats Sandstone was deposited. The Great Unconformity, in fact, has been traced across several continents.”
Dr. Snelling added, “The mineralogical content, textural features, sedimentary structures, continental-scale deposition, paleocurrent directions matching continental patterns, and even the tracks and traces of transitory invertebrates all indicate rapid burial and are consistent with the catastrophic erosion of the Great Unconformity near the initiation of the global Genesis Flood cataclysm, only about 4,350 years ago.”
Dr. Snelling is a member of eight professional geology groups. One of his prior research projects included a study at the Koongarra uranium deposit in Australia. Dr. Snelling is also the author of the two-volume Earth’s Catastrophic Past and hundreds of articles on geology. Several more articles are to come on Dr. Snelling’s original research at Grand Canyon.
