The Ultimate Con.

"You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time."

Abraham Lincoln, 16th president of US (1809 - 1865).

Our sellout politicians have finally gone too far. A majority I am sure, now recognise how the people of this nation have been treacherously sold out to the European Union - and that all the major parties are part of this conspiracy.

In simple terms, merely changing the word "CONstitution" to "treaty" is a tad transparent!

I'm Back!

Sorry that all you Blogites have been without your daily dose of common sense but AOL was down for 4 days in this area because of the Sheffield flooding, apparently. It has just got back so I'm back tomorrow.

Welcome Gordon.

I remember the days when an envy-filled Wilson administration made some of the greatest economic blunders ever seen in British politics.
After the ridiculous SET, one of the worst was Super Tax at 98p in the pound - and if you are too young, your eyes do not deceive you, it did allow people to keep a mighty 2p in the pound.
It was the utmost folly designed to drive capital, entrepreneurs and businesses out of the country. I hold no brief for the woes of the super rich but this was bound to backfire - and it surely did.
Reports this week are indicating that only one in six of the UK's richest people are now paying ANY tax at all! If you are on PAYE - you are trapped and YOU pay to run the country. Parasites at both ends of the spectrum and the wage slave supports them all!
What is the matter with Labour governments? Can they do nothing properly and sensibly? - I suppose we all know the answer to that. And just who has presided over the current fiasco? - Not there yet? - Well, he is our new PM!

Debt.

In the days of Charles Dickens, debtors could easily find themselves locked up in the Marshalsea and a percentage would have merited our sympathy.
Today, one cannot be locked up for debt unless there is a fraudulent element attached.
People in debt today include: the simpleminded; those enticed by loans companies; some with habits to support; others with a spendthrift in the family; the unfortunate; the careless; the well-intentioned who overstretch themselves and sometimes - the downright stupid. Some have had businesses fail catastrophically and some are simply unlucky. Of these, I have no comment to make although the knock on effects of folly can still damage many-a-third party.
There are others; those who will wantonly take goods and services which they have never had the slightest intention of paying for; those who misuse bankruptcy and administration; those who do not care when their appalling behaviour wrecks small businesses and those who will never pay back however much care and assistance is afforded to them.
For the second group, these people are thieves by any other name and should be imprisoned.

For the former group, congratulations to Christians Against Poverty for their excellent work.

The dictatorial screw tightens.

Four MEPs were threatened with arrest today after Belgian police objected to a 100% peaceful protest outside the European Union summit.

Divisional Commander Pierre Vandernissen said he was "acting on instructions from a higher authority" when he confiscated an inflatable bulldozer and threatened to arrest MEPs Nigel Farage, John Whittaker, Derek Clark and Gerard Batten. When questioned why he was doing it, he answered "because I have the power" and refused to say whether or not it was politically motivated. "I don't have to answer you" he said.

"Because I have the power." ?????????
To think there are those who state that the limitless powers of the EU's own Europol should not concern us!
"Acting on a higher authority." Oh, yes?.....I hardly dare ask!
If this is the reaction of an ordinary Belgian Police Officer....

Our quangocracy.

£124 billion pounds a year is what we pay into quangos - a mere trifle for those havens of politically correct leadership; unelected bodies designed for various sorts of political manipulation and nepotism.
They show precisely the same degree of arrogance as does the European Union - but we must not be too surprised as both these organisations are not entirely unconnected.
I thoroughly recommend Leo McKinstry's excellent expose if you follow the link below.
What I wonder is precisely how much of this massive sum could be clawed back without making a ha'porth of negatives in our society - I would hazard a total guess and suggest more than half. Add that to the savings made by withdrawing from the EU and we could nearly double pensions, make society work through capital projects AND have oodles left over for slashing taxation.

Running scared.

The Council of Europe, an organisation inextricably linked to our beloved European Union has mounted a virulent attack on Creationism. It makes various claims of such ideas being unscientific and declares the superiority of what it perceives to be 'real science'.
I have searched long and hard to find any portion where it makes the obvious suggestion that these 'ridiculous creationists' should be humiliated in televised debate on major channels at prime times - which is surely the obvious way to destroy them utterly and for all time.
If this course is not suggested - usually some weasel-like statement such as "It would only be legitimising creationist ideas" is used as the rather transparent excuse - we MUST conclude that THEY HAVE SOMETHING TO HIDE.

I tire quickly of countless apologists for one cause or another stamping their feet and shouting "We are right so why should we justify our views?"
This Blog has frequently pointed out that, in a variety of situations, when people will not debate - there is only one possible conclusion to be reached.

" We can all trust the scientists!"

I offer you a quotation from 'Police State Plannning' which merits your perusal and is certainly worthy of some deep thought.
"With the restraints of moral conventions and democracy dispensed with, the new utopia offers the holy grail of all dictators: Control over life itself. Yet some of that control has existed for decades in spite of our notionally free and democratic societies. Science offers the great advantage that very few people can understand it. Whoever pays for its conduct and its presentation in the popular media can dictate the consensus on any given issue, simply by asserting that his committee of experts are the most distinguished. The less well funded and represented dissenters are labeled the dangerous 'quacks' and 'junk scientists."
Consider also these words:
"Gradually, by selective breeding, the congenital differences between rulers and ruled will increase until they become almost different species. A revolt of the plebs would become as unthinkable as an organized insurrection of sheep against the practice of eating mutton."
- Bertrand Russell, [Portrait above] The Impact of Science on Society.

The Time Has Come.

The time has come for Labour to understand that the most fundamental function of government is to protect its own people.
This administration has run down our armed forces to such a criminal degree that we would not currently have been able to protect the Falkland Isles and yet at the same time, we have interfered in countless war situations which have nothing to do with us at all.

If the USA wishes to be the 'world's policeman', I for one have few objections but I do not want us to be their deputy!

Iraq - troops out now! Afghastlystan - troops out now!

The conservatives could claim that Blair conned them into lending him their support - yet when the truth about WMDs came out, their support remained unaltered. Strange.

A child of...

As a child of the 50s and 60s it is not always easy to adjust to the social changes. Sometimes I pause and ask the question - is it better or worse today?
Clearly, technolology has been a wonder but like so many things, it is a double edged sword - the Internet through which you receive this, being one case in point.
We are certainly wealthier; have more free time and more choice. Medical advances mean that we can live longer and hopefully more healthily, although this too can be a double edged weapon.
Spiritually, socially and politically we have gone downhill rapidly. We have lost our sense of community, our decency, often our sense of duty and have embraced a hedonistic and materialistic philosophy.
We are sophisticates but we lack depth, education and the capacity to reason.
Crime is 1,100% higher than when I was born. Moron TV and sleazy tabloids rule the roost.
Our national identity has been rubbished by the left in their singleminded quest to destroy all that is positive in our world and to the extent that even conservatives now subscribe to their logic.
Society is now more unjust than ever before; rewarding the feckless and the social parasites with wanton abandon whilst taxing the honest and hardworking into the ground.
We are an immoral society reaching out to become amoral.
If I could have stopped the clock in the early 60s - I think I would have opted to do so before the slippery slope became too steep.

Dr Gabb.

I must admit that at times, Dr Sean Gabb states things which can horrify me. I expect that that is the outcome when an evangelical comes up against the UK's leading libertarian.
Even so, some 85% of the time I can agree with him to one extent or another on political matters and I invite you to read his book which can be downloaded free by using this link and accepting the PDF download beyond that:

He invites donations to help his work and merely wants to see the book distributed.

"If you agree that it is a good book, I ask you to send me some money. I want £2,000 in order to print 1,000 copies and send these free through the post to various politicians and journalists and other opinion-formers. I also want - perhaps more constructively - to distribute it to students and other persons who may find it useful or interesting."

It took me less than an hour to read and was both interesting and thought-provoking.

The Unjust Society.

A lone parent with two children under 11 and childcare costs, who is a private tenant and works 16 hours per week at minimum wage, with all benefits included will average a net income of £486-59 weekly.
A couple in a similar position and without childcare costs would have to work - wait for it - 116 [that is ONE HUNDRED and sixteen] hours per week to achieve more or less the same level of income AND with an extra person in the household.
And yet the left have the audacity to talk of 'social justice'!
This situation becomes even more morally reprehensible in the countless cases where the single parent has taken this route as 'a career move' or has drifted into the situation through out and out fecklessness rather than because of genuine reasons such as abandonment, illness or bereavement.
Which major political party would tackle this? - Of course. None!

Poor parents.

"Mrs Scraggs your son is spoilt." - "No he isn't!" - "Well at least come and see what the steamroller did to him."

No.The old jokes aren't always the best but spoilt children in today's society are as much a reason for problems in our schools as any degree of social deprivation. That is certainly no joke.

They receive: mobile phones, IPods, large amounts of pocket money; they possess Gameboys and Play Stations which dull their faculties and interest in life; they have TVs and computers in bedrooms; parents are treated as chauffeurs and are contradicted - even in public. These children are not taught the value of money, their lack of manners gets worse year on year and when they go off the rails the parents will back them up to the hilt against authority of any kind and will even take the blame with school for their child's transgressions.

They have no tasks or chores to do around the house; they triumph in arguments by sulking, shouting or through bad behaviour. Their punishments are sporadic and inconsistent. Morality for its own sake is absent.

Do I speak of every child thus? - Indeed not. Many fit all the criteria; most just a selection;
few are the children for whom little of the above applies.

To quote a former colleague; " Parents you would not wish on a chimp."

The amazing thing is that society has not totally imploded - yet, at least.

Dr Alan Clifford.

Perhaps we forget that the Gospel is not designed to be delivered apologetically. You may care to peruse the extract below from Dr Clifford and compare to the attitudes displayed in your own church. I leave you to it and make no comment.

As a Christian pastor, I pursue a mission which seeks the conversion of Muslims and non-Muslims alike. Religiously and politically, I desire compassion for all and malice towards none.
Whether people follow the dictates of a false religion like Islam or they prefer the decadent life-style of much modern British secularism, all need the life-transforming message of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I believe there is simply no realistic hope for the peace and stability ofthe UK without a revival of authentic Christianity. However problematic itis to penetrate the minds of today's white secular materialists, the Islamic threat is an altogether 'mega' problem. The relatively peaceable attitude of the Muslim majority is simply a tactic on the road to eventual fulfilment of the jihadic goal of global Islam. The 'militant-moderate' distinction is ultimately meaningless. While the Government bleats about'integration', Muslims are only interested in 'domination'. Give them timeand they will achieve it. From my perspective, there is only one solution. If UK Muslims will not exchange the essentially-backward and barbaric tenets of their fanatical faith for the wonderfully soul-saving and civilising faith of Jesus Christ, they must emigrate to countries that share their outlook. For their safety's sake, I urge them to follow this advice. They must cease abusing the hospitality of our tolerant culture and, where applicable, thegenerosity of our social benefits. They must take their money, their moresand their mosques elsewhere. Otherwise, the consequences of the growing crisis in the UK will prove too dire for words. Question: Is there a specifically
biblical basis for demanding the migration of Muslims for their own safety?
Is there any biblical authority for this line of thinking?Reply: Next to an evangeIistic concern for all, I am primarily concernedfor the peace and stability of UK society (see Jer. 29: 7), which is under threat from the presence of an alien religious and political ideology. Besides the constant threat of UK-based Islamic terrorism, twofundamentally opposed cultures cannot coexist in one state without creating intolerable friction. The evil intent of global Islamic jihadism with its determination to impose shari'ah law on subject nations, makes it impossible long term for us to 'lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence' (1 Tim. 2:2). While Christians under the Roman Empire were urged to submit to theGovernment (see Rom. 13: 1-7), Islamists intend to overthrow our UK democracy. Since Islam is at war with the West, we dare not permit them to live in our midst any more than we would have tolerated the Nazi invaders.

Euro disaster.

As quisling Blair prepares to leave office whilst taking us ever deeper into the EU; breaking his promise of a constitutional referendum; taking us ever nearer to adopting the euro and preparing the way for his ultimate EU sinecure - the people of the EU have been revealed to have had enough.
A Harris Poll for the FT recently revealed that more than two thirds of French, Spanish and Italian voters, as well as over half of Germans believe that the euro has had a negative impact on their respective economies.

Majorities in these large EU states preferred their former currency. One reason for this is the massive increase in prices in the shops as has already occurred here with decimalisation; changes are used for price hikes.

In Spain, the 'standard 'unit of currency was a hundred pesetas, it is now a euro - an increase of over 60%. This phenomenon is best noticed amongst market traders et al but can equally be found in supermarkets - I know as I have the personal experience.

In Italy, the first year added £1,600 to the average family's food bill according to the Bank Intessa.

To think that there are still some here who argue that "It makes changing money unnecessary when you go on holiday." Intellectual pygmies!

As Eddie George the former Chief of the Bank of England said: "The euro is about politics not economics."

Christianity and democracy.

A Christian recently said to me: "As a Christian, I am not sure to what extent I am a democrat."

For me, I am a democrat through and through and want the wishes of the people to be respected by politicians. I accept that this means that on occasions my views would be over-ridden.

Of course, there are possible problems in giving unfettered power to the voters via referenda but these can hardly be worse than what our out-of-touch politicians have laid upon us with their liberal elite agendas over the last 40 years.

Antonio Gramsci.

Antonio who? You may not have heard of this Italian communist who died way back in 1937, but it is a name which would be immediately recognised by today's liberal elite as principal amongst their founding gurus.
Just as a trotskyite theme could be found running just below the surface of the revolutionary marxists of the working class who used to dominate all our trade unions - [now an endangered species, of course and apparently festering quietly in The Green Party] - Gramsci is one of the key founding fathers of the political philosophy which is currently wrecking the entire western world.

Mad officials.

Most Health & Safety madness has arrived here direct from Brussels. The trouble is that once the noxious legislation is enacted we have our own lunatics here to interpret it it in an even crazier manner.
Reference: Monkton Heathfield in Somerset where those valiant people who face Somme-like dangers every single day are being forced to take out £5 million poundsworth of insurance cover.
Popping down to the allotment was always ridden with spine-chilling danger!

Totally potty.

In 2003 it was declared that cannabis smoking could lead to 30,000 deaths annually.
This may well have been hype and hyperbole, but I note that it was reported today that hospital admissions for cannabis abuse have doubled since Labour came into power.
It was of course, Mr Blunkett who listened to the dopeheads [and also non-members of the cabinet] before demonstrating extreme folly by reclassifying this highly dangerous but seemingly innocuous weed as a 'Class C' drug.

Fun with old letters.

I was trawling through some back letters on the Daily Telegraph webpages yesterday and this pair really took my eye:

Can someone please explain the difference between the pre-Reformation sale of plenary indulgences and payments for "carbon offsets"? They both appear to be hilariously fraudulent methods of extracting cash from the gullible, and neither has the slightest basis in rationality or empirical science.

CB.

Keith Lonsdale said it so much more succinctly than I could have:

"Is carbon offsetting a con?" It was thought up by NuLabour, what else is it going to be?

No care in the community.

Were you aware that certain mental patients released into the community are killing at a rate of around one person every single week?
400 unfortunates have met up with one of these highly dangerous people - and not lived to tell the tale - in the last eight years alone.
Inevitably, the vast majority of these killers will have been released from prisons, mental institutions and hospitals for the criminally insane. In short, they have a history of being truly dangerous.

The question must be asked:

Whose rights should the government be protecting - those of people simply too dangerous ever to see freedom again or those of the public in general?

With what is almost grim inevitability, our government has chosen the wrong course of action and it has cost many lives.

The record of psychiatrists in assessing such characters is utterly lamentable.

Crimewatch.

I watched Crimewatch last night and for the umpteenth consecutive programme, I went through some rather disturbing thoughts.
Regarding the photographs on the Rogues Gallery, 5 out of 8 of the especially nasty, missing criminals were from ethnic minorities and/or recent immigrants to the UK. I have commented on this for so many programmes on the trot that this cannot possibly be a coincidence.

In the majority of featured crimes which are sufficiently heinous to make it onto the programme, the same point can be raised. This being the BBC it is highly probable, that because of political correctness, the portrayals of people from these groups will have been minimised to the maximum extent for the programme to retain any integrity.

If people from these groups represent less than 10% of the population as is claimed by government, then the astronomically high levels of criminal tendencies in these groups must not be brushed under the carpet by the mandarins of political correctness.

I have not forgotten that some years ago, police in London released figures showing that 90% of muggers were black and this caused a massive outcry from the guardianistas to such an extent that such information is now denied to us.

Is this not grossly unfair on generally law abiding groups such as the Chinese who as a consequence, can receive no credit for their virtue?

I am sorry, but hiding problems under the carpet does not mean that they do not exist. The people will not have blinkers on for ever.

We are playing so much into the hands of the BNP, I almost wonder if this is the hidden agenda of the PC brigade.
Secrecy is never in the public interest and neither does it benefit the groups concerned when myth inevitably replaces hard facts.

No comment to add.

Nice one Jan!

Reverend Jan Ainsworth is in charge of the Cof E's 4,690 schools and has declared that creationism should be taught in these schools as an alternative.
Stephen Cox of The Royal Society responded to this with; "The theory of evolution is supported with the weight of scientific evidence......"
Fine. No doubt he will be the first leading evolutionist to break ranks and accept a major TV debate with any of the following scientists:
John Mackay. Ken Ham.
Carl Wieland.
Jonathan Sarfati et al.

The alternative and most likely possibility is that he will run away and state that "Debate lends credibility to creationists" as if he has a God-given right not to have to defend his devalued but nonetheless much cherished opinions.

Ms Hodge.

Our Education Minister Alan Johnson accused colleague Margaret Hodge of 'using the language of the BNP'.
She had said that British families should have more rights to council homes than immigrants.
Johnson stated that this 'fuels myths about immigrants getting special privileges'.
Surely if British people are at the front of the queues then this should offend Mr Johnson and if they are not, then Ms Hodge has a point.
And this man is in charge of education.

Clutching at straws - again.

You cannot have failed to read about the Chinese Sinosauropteryx in your newspaper back in 1996.
It was the 'proof' that feathered dinosaurs were a 'missing link' between reptiles and birds.
Oh, the hype. Oh, the excitement. Oh, the wild and extravagant claims!
But tragically for evolutionary scientists, Sinosauropteryx is just one more dud to add to an impressively lengthy list of failed 'proofs'.
These 'feathers' have now been shown to be the remains of 'collagenous fibre meshworks'.
Let us not forget just a few of the other 'proofs of evolution':-
Piltdown Man - fraud.
Nebraska Man - complete apeman constructed from a single pig's tooth.
Peking Man - Skulls disappeared.
Java Man - Bones of humans mixed with primate bones on site.
Peppered Moth - both lighter & darker types existed pre-industrial revolution.
Haeckel diagrams - pure fraud.
Olduvai Gorge specimens - made to fit image by using angle grinder.
Neanderthal - put him in a suit, give him a shave and walk past him in the street.
Cro Magnon - as above.
Galapagos finches - fewer changes than in domestic dogs and STILL finches. They have changed only within their genetic parameters. Adaptation to environment is arguably evolution, but ONLY if there is proof of NEW genetic information. There is not. There never has been - anywhere at any time.
How desperately evolutionists grasp at at any straw. Scientists using scientific method? -
Pah!
No corrections of error in the newspapers. How odd!
