An Excellent Call, Rico.

Rico Tice leaves Church of England over same-sex blessings.

Staff writer  27 April 2024.

Rico Tice

Respected evangelist Rico Tice has left the Church of England over its decision to introduce blessings for same-sex couples.

Tice, who co-created the Christianity Explored course, told Evangelicals Now that he left after failing to receive a satisfactory answer from the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, about the concerns of evangelicals towards the Prayers of Love and Faith

"We called upon the archbishop to resist the influence of cultural values when they are in opposition to those of the Bible, and did this because it was harming our ability to work with orthodox people from other denominations – how could they trust us? We received no substantive response from him, and that was a key moment in my decision to leave," he said.

Tice is a leading evangelical voice and spent many years as associate minister at All Souls Church, Langham Place, in London, the church of the late evangelist John Stott. He now worships at the International Presbyterian Church (IPC), Ealing.

He has retained his permission to preach so that he can continue to speak in Church of England churches but said it was "vital" that he demonstrate a "clear separation from a church that no longer affirms Biblical orthodoxy, especially with regard to preaching repentance".  CT

More On Frank Field.

Media Erases Pro-Faith, Pro-Brexit, Anti-Migration Stances from Veteran Lawmaker Frank Field’s Obituary.

Veteran parliamentarian Frank Field reached his positions including opposition to the European Union and mass migration from first principles of defending working-class communities from poverty, often putting him in conflict with other left-wing politicians.

Frank Field, the Member of Parliament for Birkenhead for 40 years from 1979, has died, his family said on Wednesday. The long-time Labour politician had been diagnosed with cancer over ten years ago.

Unlike many left-wing politicians in the UK, Field was not shy about asserting that large-scale immigration hurts working-class communities and, from this basis, was a Eurosceptic and campaigned for Britain to leave the European Union. His strong Christian faith informed his campaigns against child poverty, as well as his support for restrictions on abortion.

Yet although Field was widely and well regarded as an “independent thinker” who reached political positions that could often leave him at loggerheads with his fellow Labour Party politicians, it would be hard to guess this from several legacy media reports on his death today.

An obituary in the Independent, formerly one of Britain’s leading left-wing newspapers, neglects to mention Field’s stance against the European Union, for instance, or his view that mass migration is detrimental to working-class people. The Independent also did not make mention of Field’s strong Christian faith, which informed many of his views and his strong campaigning zeal against poverty.

Britain’s newspaper of record The Times also neglected these areas, which in many ways defines Fields’ political life including his eventual fall-out with the Labour Party, leading to him being made a member of the House of Lords as an independent by the Conservatives. The paper only touched on Field’s faith briefly in the final sentence of the obituary concerning his decision to come to support euthanasia several years into his battle with cancer after previously opposing it.

In other reports, a superficial skim would leave causal readers none the wiser, with such details reserved for the end. The BBC’s obituary only stated Field’s views on EU immigration and his Brexit campaign in the fourth quarter of its report, while also noting — also oddly absent from many other reports — his falling out with then-Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn over left-wing antisemitism, which Field strongly opposed as indecent.

The Guardian fared better, mentioning the fact Field had what it deems “socially conservative views” in the second paragraph, and noted his belief that if “mainstream parties” refused to talk about large-scale immigration to the UK, then “extreme parties” would instead. Crucially, The Guardian reports on the repeated attempts to deselect Field from candidacy by hard-left Labour groups through his 40 years in Parliament, including by “The Trotskyite group Militant” in the 1980s.

In a way, Field’s long-term opposition to the European project underlines the massive paradigm shift that occurred in British politics in his lifetime. When Britain first joined the Common Market — which would later become the European Union — in 1973, Euroscepticism was an overwhelmingly left-wing interest. But as time went on, concern for the working class being a prime concern for left-wing politics seriously waned and was replaced with the interests of the globalist, managerial middle-class, which is overwhelmingly pro-Europe.

Field and a handful of other veteran leftists managed to stick to their guns on these issues over the years, honestly reckoning that unlimited mass migration from Europe depressed wages for British workers. Others struggled; Jeremy Corbyn, a hard-left politician of a generation after Field managed to hold his Eurosceptic opinions until he managed to become leader of the Labour Party, at which point he dropped them for reasons of expedience.

Praising Mr Field in 2016, Brexit leader Nigel Farage said of a speech given by the Labour MP in Parliament: “…fantastic, that Frank Field, veteran Labour MP from Birkenhead, was talking there not as a Labour MP, not as somebody who is part of a political tribe, but somebody saying there is something more important than the colour of the rosette you wear at election time, it is the national interest.

“The country has voted for Brexit, and people should come together, whatever party they are from, and fight to make sure we get the best out of it. I have to say, Frank Field, ten out of ten. Goodness me, I wish there was more of that feeling and spirit in British politics”. Breitbart.

Over 10 million lives lost after 56 years of the Abortion Act.

An estimated 10,372,100 lives have been lost since the Abortion Act came into effect on this day in 1968.

In 2021, the last full year for which abortion statistics are available, more than one baby was being aborted every two and a half minutes across England, Wales and Scotland.

That year saw record high numbers of abortions, with 214,869 in England and Wales, and 16,596 in Scotland.

Right to Life UK attributed the increase to the introduction of the pills by post service that allows women to take both abortion pills at home up to the first 10 weeks.

A spokesperson for Right To Life UK, Catherine Robinson said: "The UK's abortion law is failing both women and unborn babies. It is a national tragedy that 10,372,100 lives have been lost since the 1967 Abortion Act came into effect, each one a unique and valuable human being who was denied the right to life.

"Every one of these abortions represents a collective failure of our society to protect the lives of babies in the womb and a failure to offer full support to women with unplanned pregnancies.

"While we may pause to commemorate this tragedy, this day also serves as a call to action for people around the country to renew their efforts to do everything they can to help ensure more lives are saved from abortion in the future."

The anniversary of the Abortion Act is being remembered this year as MPs launch a fresh attempt to radically change the UK's abortion laws.

An amendment tabled to the Criminal Justice Bill by Labour MP Stella Creasy wants to remove the possibility of custodial sentences for abortions after 24 weeks. If passed, Right to Life said it would lead to more late-term abortions.

Ms Robinson urged people to contact their MPs to ask them to ensure that protections for unborn babies and mothers are strengthened.

"By being proactive and taking action, every single one of us can be part of building a pro-life nation where we protect and defend the right to life of every human being from conception to natural death," she said. CT

Combat 18. Circa 200 members. Nasty white supremacists. One of a tiny number of hard right-wing extremist groups in the UK.

Combat 18 (C18 or 318)[is a neo-Nazi terrorist organisation that was founded in 1992. It originated in the United Kingdom with ties to movements in Canada and the United States. Since then, it has spread to other countries, including Germany. Combat 18 members have been suspected of being involved and directly responsible in the deaths of numerous immigrants, non-whites, dissidents, and the German politician Walter Lübcke as well as internecine killings of Combat 18 members.[

I spotted an Irish flag on the St Patrick's Day Parade...

... it stated that 'Ireland is full.'

Interesting. I looked up the figures. They have roughly 212 people per square mile.

England has 720!

Russell Brand announces baptism after months-long spiritual journey: 'Taking the plunge'.

Brand says many are returning to Christianity as

world crumbles.

Actor and comedian Russell Brand announced Friday that he is

going to be baptized this weekend, the culmination of his

months-long public wrestling with the tenets of Christianity.

"This Sunday, I'm taking the plunge," Brand, 48, said in a video he

posted to X. "I'm getting baptized." CP.

Alone.

Jesus knows what it's like being alone.

Jesus promises His disciples saying, “I will not leave you as orphans …” (Jn. 14:18).

When a woman faces an unplanned pregnancy, she considers abortion because she feels alone or threatened by abandonment. Even the most self-proclaimed independent women say things like, “If he would have expressed just a little interest in helping with the baby, I would never think about aborting.” Because of the lack of support, she says, “I have no choice.” What will her family say and do when she goes home for Thanksgiving eight months pregnant? Will her boyfriend leave her if she dares to keep the baby?

One of the scariest things about being alone is when the aloneness becomes a spectacle. Surrounded by people refusing friendship is a magnifying glass in the mocking sun, burning us with social intensity and emotional pain. CP.

United Methodist Church votes to allow Eurasian churches to leave denomination

Delegates at the United Methodist Church General Conference voted to allow a regional body based in Eastern Europe to disaffiliate from the denomination over theological issues.

At the churchwide legislative meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina, delegates voted on Thursday to approve Petition 21103 in a tally of 672 ayes to 67 nays, thus giving the Eurasian Episcopal Area, which has four annual conferences, autonomy.

Bishop Eduard Khegay of the Eurasia Episcopal Area expressed his gratitude for the denomination, explaining that "I became a Christian because of The United Methodist Church." CP

Danger Alert.

The broken immigration system is now becoming dangerous.

The Home Office already has some serious questions to answer – as does the Ministry of Justice, which ultimately oversees legal aid

Photo issued by Counter Terror Police of Ahmed Alid

The case of Ahmed Ali Alid, the Moroccan asylum seeker who was this week found guilty of murdering a stranger in a rampage motivated by the conflict in Gaza, highlights just how broken Britain’s immigration system has become.

The 45-year-old, who entered the UK illegally via the Netherlands in 2020, attempted to kill his housemate, a Christian convert, by knifing him in his bed as he slept.

He then prowled the streets of Hartlepool until he came across Terence Carney, 70, who was out for a morning walk, attacking him and stabbing him to death.

Alid told police after his arrest that the attack was “for the people of Gaza” and that, if he had had access to a machine gun, he would have killed more people.

During the police interview, he attacked two female officers, yelling “Palestine” and “Allahu Akbar” as he grabbed one of them and wrestled her to the ground, causing his solicitor to dial 999.

The tragedy of this case is that there would have been multiple chances to stop Alid. He had been in the country for several years, having previously spent more than a decade roaming around Europe.

Had his presence in the UK been properly interrogated, it would have been discovered that he had left Morocco in 2007 after having a “problem” with the intelligence services, and that he had been refused asylum in Germany.

(According to the UN Refugee Agency, 94 per cent of asylum applications from Morocco are rejected – presumably because it’s actually a safe country where Sir Richard Branson has a home).

Asked during his trial if he had been successful in applying for asylum during the three years he spent in “dispersal” lodgings in Hartlepool, he said: “I didn’t have any answer”. So he was basically left to kill.

How many other people have entered the UK illegally, and pose a similar threat to the safety and wellbeing of the British public?

The Home Office already has some serious questions to answer – as does the Ministry of Justice, which ultimately oversees legal aid. I can disclose that Alid received such help to fund his defence. Is that really the best use of public money? DT.
