Finches

For generations, 'Darwin's finches' have been used as an example of 'evolution by natural selection' and this idea has been unashamedly launched at literally millions of schoolchildren as 'an established proof' of the 'truth of evolution'.
What utter piffle!
For a start, the only 'changes' are within the genetic parameters of the finches - in the same way that a dog may be either a Doberman or a Chihuahua and can still interbreed - but both remain unequivocally, DOGS!
Secondly - and of vital importance - there is NO new genetic information.
Thus, one of the trumpeted pillars of the evolutionary hypothesis is actually nothing of the sort.
Take a look at the link below to find out all the other factors involved - most of which will embarrass even the diehard evolutionists.
Natural selection is a scientific certainty but is emphatically NOT a vehicle for evolution and never could be!

Taqiyya.

The Shi'a teaching of 'taqiyya', is based on 'dissimulation for a worthy cause'.
Such causes might include the safety of the individual or to help propagate the spread of Islam.
The Sunni view is that Shi'a doctrine of 'taqiyya' isn't in accordance with its acceptable use. They assert that Shi'as have been using taqiyya as a tool of deception, not to save their own lives, but to cause strife for the Sunnis and their political leadership (which was resented by Shi'as) and for conspiratorial implantation of their own minority faith among the mainstream Muslim faith. Avoiding banks.

Many banks should currently be avoided like a dose of the black death.
May I humbly suggest that CitiBank - the sidekick of BMI Baby could be considered worthy of being shunned?
These pair offered my wife and me The CitiBank/BMI Baby credit card with their representative assuring us that signing up and spending just £100 each would result in two free return flights to any BMI Baby destination on any date 'subject to availability' - which upon interrogation the rep stated categorically, at least three times, had no special meaning.
We checked the rules in the literature with the card which made no mention of 'promotional offers'. However, as soon as we tried to get the relevant flights to our chosen destination, these magic words appeared out of the ether! We had been victims of 'fraudulent misrepresentation'.
The couldn't-give-a-monkeys' attitude to this by BMI Baby over three months has been simply appalling.
A month ago I explained this to CitiBank on the phone and was promised a written response in 4 - 7 days. I am still waiting!
Last week, I rang them repeatedly and only ever spoke with the utmost politeness.
I was kept on hold interminably; I was cut off twice; I could not get one person to even take my phone number and when I finally got somebody to take it with a promise for somebody more senior to ring me back within minutes - NOTHING.
Currently, the Police, the Civil Aviation Authority, the Financial Ombudsman, Sheffield Trading Standards and Consumer Direct are involved.
I am not finished.
Soon they will both be getting some rather unwanted publicity.
The money? - I do not care too much but I shall not let these people off the hook even if it takes years.
THE CONSUMER MATTERS!

Ernst Haeckel: an evolutionist fraudster caught 'bang to rights'.

The Times eventually caught up with this a few years ago - but this is one more, longterm, evolutionary fraud - 'Ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny' - pure crap!

'For over a century, school textbooks taught students that the theory of Evolution was illustrated by similarities between the development of a human in the womb compared to the shape of embryos of lower life forms. In other words, human development supposedly imitated the evolutionary path of life on earth. This theory was initially proposed by Charles Darwin in 'The Origin of Species' and then heavily promoted by the German Darwinist, Ernst Haeckel. In 1904, Haeckel reiterated a view of Darwin: "These lower races ... are psychologically nearer to the mammals (apes or dogs) than to civilized Europeans; we must, therefore, assign a totally different value to their lives." Haeckel drew diagrams suggesting that an animal, including a human, imitates the shapes of its ancestors' evolution as it develops in the womb. He then drew fraudulent images to popularize his theory. The drawings, shown to the right here, were a complete fake. The Haeckel diagrams remained in school textbooks long after scientists privately recognized they were fraudulent.'
The diagrams were not removed from textbooks until the New York Times publicized the fraud in 2001.'
It had been known as wrong for decades but the fraud was perpetuated and covered up.
There are literally scores of other scientific areas where the same applies today!

We need to revisit what 'education' means.

In the days when my father left school before his 14th birthday, 'education for the plebs' was a straightforward matter. The 3 'R's were referred to constantly and a certain amount of Geography and History were added. There was some debate as to whether Science fell into the remit of such schools or not. Art and crafts were an occasional variant.
The education was basic and certainly would not usually contain Latin or languages.

I know that my prejudices against 'Mickey Mouse subjects' are legendary but perhaps we might consider the case of a young man of my knowledge.
I have never met the young gentleman concerned but his mother's description clearly shows that he is of low ability.
He has been following a course in Media Studies which he has enjoyed - [big deal] - and as a 16 year old this summer, he is preparing to leave school and go to college where he is going to pursue his education in - wait for it - yes, MEDIA STUDIES.
In the name of all sanity - WHY? What is the purpose of this other than to keep him off the streets and off the dole queues for a while?
The course is neither academic nor vocational - so just WHAT IS IT?
This young man is heading, thoroughly unprepared, for a working lifetime which is going to be riddled with disappointments and the finger of blame must be pointed firmly at the so-called educators.
Tragically, the boy's mother is not especially bright and was simply unable to grasp that the boy has been ill advised in school to an almost criminal extent.

Nowhere to run.

'Gordon Brown helped fuel Britain's banking crisis by pressuring City watchdogs into 'light-touch regulation', MPs were told today.
In damning evidence to the Treasury select committee, Financial Services Authority chairman Lord Turner said there was clear 'political' pressure not to question the business models of banks such as Northern Rock, HBOS and Bradford and Bingley.'

If this proves to be true, then a far greater proportion of the blame for the current catastrophe must be laid directly at the door of the Prime Minister.
That of course, does not exonerate the banks from their greed and folly.

The Cameron Family.

However much I remain unimpressed by the Conservative Party's leadership, the only thing Christians and rightminded people can do at the moment is to offer our deepest condolences to David Cameron and his wife at this tragic time.
I certainly undertake for them to be part of my prayers for some time to come.

A yorkshire Post gem!

Yorkshire Post readers, familiar with science, will understand Brownian motion as the continuous random and erratic movement of certain particles in a fluid or gas and I think this sums up aptly our illustrious Prime Minister's efforts to combat the chaos rapidly engulfing the economy.

Oh dear, Andrew.

In a mind-numbingly simplistic, recent article on Darwin by - of all people - Andrew Marr, we are subjected to a paean of praise for the 'old fraud'.
He falls into every single trap and were I to spend a happy hour or two on his piece, I could literally take it apart but I shall settle for dealing with just one hubris-laden line in which he refers to: '.... today's fight between Creationists and the scientifically educated.'
What breathtaking arrogance! He makes the appalling suggestion that the issue of science versus non science is the nub of the debate.
Is he really unaware of the numbers of scientists - many with doctorates and professorships - who are opposed to evolution on scientific grounds? Or is he just being disingenuous?

Facebook continues the downward spiral.

'Networking websites are causing alarming changes in the brains of young users, an eminent scientist has warned.
Sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Bebo are said to shorten attention spans, encourage instant gratification and make young people more self-centred.
The claims from neuroscientist Susan Greenfield will make disturbing reading for the millions whose social lives depend on logging on to their favourite websites each day.'

Are we really being told anything we did not already know? Comics replaced books: the radio replaced books and hobbies: TV replaced books, hobbies and the ability to reason: computer games replaced these three and added a mindlessness or 'turning off of the brain'. Now we have facebook et al to compound the situation.
Not one of the above is bad in its own right - indeed all can have a number of positives - but all have a massive role to play when usage is up to epidemic proportions.
'Dumbing down' does not all come directly from our deeply flawed education system.

Beverley Hughes.

'Parents should not tell their young teenage children that it is wrong to have sex, ministers said yesterday. Children's Minister Beverley Hughes said parents should assist teenage children if they are sexually active. 'We want parents to help young people to resist the pressure to have early sex, but also to explain the importance of using contraception if and when they do decide to have sex ....they should curb their tongues for fear of discouraging youngsters from 'being open', according to a campaign to involve mothers and fathers in sex education.'

These people are nothing less than utter fools because they are incapable of learning the lessons of experience. The problems we have are rooted in the moral ambivalence of the current ways of teaching children and compounded by an amoral media, appalling parenting and a society which recognises neither discipline nor duty.
In a 'Godless universe' - this is a price we pay!

NO to the BNP!

I have often pointed out occasions on this Blog when the BNP have been appallingly treated by the liberal left and the political leftwingers. This does not represent any support for this group whatsoever but rather, is a matter of what I believe to be my natural evenhandedness.
Indeed I am truly appalled that voters are deemed likely to vote in two MEPs under the BNP banner if the headlines in Saturday's Independent are to be trusted.
Just what is the matter with the voting public?
Why do they vote year after year for parties they cannot trust, with policies which they clearly do not want?
When things get desperate they then swing wildly to extremes!
To me this is utterly unfathomable when they have a mainstream party whose policies reflect the public views better than any other - UKIP! And of course, under Proportional Representation, they could do phenomenally well in the EU elections in June - but this could be endangered if protest votes are diverted to extremist groups such as the Greens or the BNP.

Just a reminder Gordon ....

"A weak currency is the sign of a weak economy which is the sign of a weak government."

— Gordon Brown, 1992.

The Welsh Revival.

The Welsh Revival of 1904 .... "Was like a mighty tornado. The Spirit of God swept across the land until mountains and valleys, cities and villages were filled with the mighty manifestations of God. Churches were crowded and meetings went on day and night. Prayer, singing and testimonies would sweep over congregations in torrents and hundreds turned to Christ. Never in the history of Wales had such indescribable scenes been witnessed."
Could do with a bit of that today!
I met several elderly pentecostals when I first became a Christian who attested to the miracles that they had personally witnessed under the ministry of the Jeffries Brothers - who had themselves become Christians in 1904.

The Top 50 (or so) Labour Sleaze Scandals:

Inform yourself about the failing EU.

Many have long been predicting the current crises within the European Union!

Rees-Mogg on Lisbon.

'The facts about the Lisbon treaty are relatively simple, but the implications are deeply disturbing. In May 2005, the Labour Party won a general election on a manifesto that included a commitment to hold a referendum on the European constitutional treaty.
There were similar commitments in the Conservative and Liberal Democrat manifestos. Referendums were actually held, and the treaty defeated, in France and the Netherlands, but no referendum was ever held in Britain, on the ground that the treaty was dead.
It was not dead, it had merely gone underground.
The constitutional treaty was subsequently reconstructed and became the Lisbon treaty, which contains more than 95 per cent of the same material. Valéry Giscard d’Estaing, a former President of France, described the process: “Public opinion will be led to adopt, without knowing it, the proposals that we dare not present to them directly . . . all the earlier proposals will be in the new text, but will be hidden and disguised in some way.” That is what actually was done.
The Government soon recognised that this process had not succeeded in deceiving public opinion. Opinion polls showed that a referendum on the Lisbon treaty would be defeated. The Government therefore decided to break the referendum commitment that had helped it to win the election.'

SO. DO YOU TRUST YOUR GOVERNMENT? DO YOU TRUST THE EU?

Duch.

Kaing Guek Eav aka. Duch, went on trial for genocide in Cambodia this month. He was responsible for the deaths of more than 12,000 people and the torture of many under the abominable, communist, Pol Pot regime.
Now a born again Christian, he has clearly repented and is the only one of the numbers charged to have demonstrated remorse or to have confessed.

He was working for the disadvantaged and living a Christian life prior to his arrest.
Nonetheless, in a properly ordered world he should be executed for his crimes, but as this is before a UN tribunal this will not now happen.
The remarkable thing about Duch is that in modern times at least, he is the most evil man I have ever seen come to know Christ. His heavenly destination is guaranteed - and oh, how we cry out that "this is so wrong" that he might be saved when 'lesser sinners' who have not repented will not.
Christians must not question either God's wisdom in this or the fact that the power of Christ's blood for redemption can reach out to even the 'vilest of sinners'.
Christ warned us against this thinking, I believe, in the parable of 'The Workers in the Vineyard' - Matt 20: 1 - 16.

Let us rejoice that a truly wicked man has repented!

Sometimes we forget.

Sometimes we forget why this country needed the brilliant - albeit rather painful - Thatcher touch in the 1980s.
Here is a quote [Thanks Stan] which epitomises our current situation.

Eritrea.

'Until 2002, there was religious freedom in Eritrea.
Then the government announced it would recognise only four religious communities: the Orthodox Church of Eritrea, Sunni Islam, the Roman Catholic Church and the Lutheran-affiliated Evangelical Church of Eritrea.
All other churches were closed. Since 2002, it has banned any religious organisation from taking part in politics.
The religious climate has changed substantially in recent years.
The authorities run a campaign of open persecution against Christians: more than 2,000 of them are said to be in jail currently, including several pastors.
Many are imprisoned indefinitely and without trial. For some, the only hope of being released is to sign documents declaring they will no longer practise their faith.
Raids on Christian services are frequent, even wedding ceremonies, and mass detentions are common.'

Thanks to Release International for this information.

ID cards.

I have no philosophical sense of opposition to Identity Cards but the practicalities are quite something different - costs and bureaucratic inefficiency to name just two.
I am also quite unimpressed with the facile argument "If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear."

I perhaps might have something to hide. I am a Christian and oppose the demagogical EU and despise the cosy consensus of British politics.
In the present climate, that combination is becoming increasingly insecure.

The bottom line however is the vital question: "Do you trust your government to demonstrate integrity with the system at all times?" - Sadly, I am afraid that I cannot!

Sno' good at all.

The article below set me thinking.
I once had my car ambushed in the residential village of Burton-upon-Stather. Two yobs lurked and hurled a volley of snowballs into the side of my car - extremely scary and dangerous!
I went around the block and caught them lurking behind a bush in the garden of a rather nice 5 bedroomed house waiting to do it again.
I went to the door of the house and the father came to the door. I explained what had happened and he asked these young toerags if this was what had happened.
"No, Dad. It was an accident!"
I explained about them hiding and poised to do it again when I returned and he chose to dismiss the matter. Apparently, I had made it all up!

This was more than 30 years ago and a middle class parent. I have often wondered what these youths grew up to be.
As a teacher for 33 years - it no longer surprises. Parents today always aid and abet their offspring in their wrongdoing even though they readily 'talk tough'.
Few are those who will be evenhanded.
Ever wonder why our society is in such a mess?

Perfect sense?

Yeah! Professor Dawkins really seems to be holding the intellectual high ground.
Atheists - you have to admire a faith that is literally built on nothing whatsoever.

National debt.

'The staggering total of Britain's national debt was laid bare yesterday - at least £2 trillion.
That represents £33,000 for every man, woman and child in the country.'

This is just about the worst in the entire world!

A simple question. If Gordon I'm-fiscally-prudent-no-more-boom-and-bust Brown has lived up to his name - then why have we fared worse than so many other nations?

When will we ever learn? Socialist governments do this every time! They remove incentives to small and medium businesses; they tax as if it doesn't hurt and they spend money as if it grows on trees.
Labour voters must begin to see that wacky giveaways of cash by governments will always have a massive sting in the tail.
You only have to stop and think and compare to your own household budget to recognise the folly.
I would also quite like to know if the printing of money has started - that is all we need to turn us into a banana republic.
A Loonytuneswatch coconut is hereby awarded to - wait for it -
the entire Labour Party!

How would foxes vote?

'A leading animal rights campaigner who once described hunting as 'barbaric and bloodthirsty' has joined the pro-hunting Countryside Alliance!
James Barrington, a former director of the League Against Cruel Sports, is heading the Countryside Alliance's efforts to overturn the ban on hunting.'

He said foxes suffered more through snaring, poisoning and shooting than through hunting with hounds, which was banned in the controversial Hunting Act introduced by the Blair government in 2005.

'I think hunting is a positive and vitally important part of wildlife management, provided it is done within proper rules.
'Like a lot of people I was quite horrified by hunting and took the view that stopping it would improve animal welfare.
'But the Hunting Act has failed on every level, not least of all on animal welfare.'

All this does it to confirm conclusions reached in the government's own report on foxhunting which rather suggested that 'Foxes would vote for keeping hunting' on the grounds that the alternative ways in which they would die would be considerably more unpleasant.

As for me - it does not affect me in any way but I remain convinced that the current ban came about not from any concern for animal welfare but rather from the rancid - and in this case misplaced - class hatred which has infected our left and liberal left since time immemorial.

Watch this space! - Are the compromisers on the retreat?

Last week's General Synod of the Church of England had several rather strange aspects - with even a little Christianity creeping in at several points. Yes. It certainly surprised me too!

' A motion by lay member Paul Eddy affirming the uniqueness of Christ was agreed with 283 votes in favour and only 8 against.'
And interestingly, 'Its significance was not lost on journalist Ruth Gledhill of the London Times who was quick to claim, under the headline ‘Anglicans called on to convert non-Christian believers’, that ‘The established Church of England put decades of liberal-inspired political correctness behind it in a move that led one bishop to condemn in anger the “evangelistic rants”.

The Anglican Church has a very long way to go to rid itself of generations of apostasy but as my old minister, the mighty Pastor Harry Webb, always used to say, "If you want a church to go anywhere then you must first remove all the dead wood."
Time a proper start was made! How about a requirement that clergy must believe in 'the redemptive power of the Risen Lord'? Those who do not will not be ordained and those who are already ordained should be asked to leave? [Although I dread to think how many 'human rights' this would trample on!]

My thanks for information to Charles Raven.

Aneurin again.

"This is my truth, tell me yours." Aneurin Bevan.

I really feel that I would have disliked this man. The underlying suggestion in this statement is of course, that there are no absolutes and that all things are just a matter of perspective.
Not so!

Matt Skelton.

Last weekend we saw the worst and the best in the 'noble art'. England's Matt Skelton was fighting for the European Heavyweight title in Italy.
His opponent was utterly beaten and the ref refused to stop the fight - worse still, the Italian's corner made him go out for a new round when the man clearly wanted to quit and could have been facing serious injury. It was a disgrace.Skelton invited the ref to stop the fight and when refused he did not do what so many men would have done whose ambition is a major title. He could have pummelled the hapless man mercilessly to ensure victory but instead he chose to adopt a very light touch until the French referee belatedly accepted the realities of the unhappy situation.
I like boxing and I do not want to see men getting seriously hurt to no good purpose.
Well done Matt - a man with some honour but shame on that referee and the cornermen!

Dongles.

I am sorry not to have been able to update as much as I wanted whilst away - the dongle I bought in Spain through Vodafone proved dreadfully expensive and ran out far too quickly.
Now back to the sharp end!

E mails to be used against you!

Starting at midnight, all e-mails sent in this country will be collected, stored and passed to the government and their politically-correct friends in the police force.

Therefore those who send e-mails that are deemed by the politically correct to contain illegal terminology, merely ensure that they go on to the police records as being a domestic terrorist, racist or extremist.

No problems for freedom here then!
I shall admit that I had a 'golliwog' when I was a child,, whilst I still safely can!

To help you understand the meaning of 'irony'.

Ever wondered what 'irony' means?- Well, try this quote from a rather nasty piece of work.

Vladimir Lenin: "Socialism is nothing but state capitalist monopoly made to benefit the whole people."

How do they still get the publicity?

Professor Chris Field, a so-called 'climate expert' was featured on TV this morning making claims that 'global warming' is going ahead 'faster than we thought'.
A typical establishment response to losing the argument.
The base of his thinking is that C02 and greenhouse gases are the prime source of climate change.

The fact that this is only one factor out of many - and one which seems to FOLLOW climate changes rather than precede them makes what he says extremely untrustworthy.

What too of the fallen temperatures, between 1998 and 2008?

Sentamu justifies prayer.

' Wherever I am in the world, my day begins with prayer. It was Dom Helder Camara, after Martin Luther, who said: 'I find these days that I am so busy I have to spend at least four hours each morning in prayer.'
While I cannot claim to have the discipline of Camara, I understand what he means.
Prayer is important. At its best, it ushers us into the very presence of God. We come before him in our frail humanity with our worries, hopes and fears as well as our requests.
Sometimes our prayer is silence, perhaps awed by the majestic and mystical nature of God, or perhaps because we have been silenced by the incomprehensible suffering of the innocent and we no longer know how or what to say.'

Oh no. Not Christianity!

'Jennie Cain is being investigated for professional misconduct over an e-mail sent to Christian friends
A school receptionist faces the sack after seeking the support of Christian friends when her five-year-old daughter was scolded for talking about God in class.
Jennie Cain's daughter Jasmine was ticked off by a teacher for discussing Heaven and Hell with a fellow pupil and came home in tears.
After comforting her distraught daughter, Mrs Cain, who works at the school, sent a private email to ten close Christian friends asking them to offer prayers for the families and the school.
But a copy fell into the hands of Gary Read, headmaster at Landscore Primary School, in Crediton, Devon.'

Aneurin Bevan

'No amount of cajolery, and no attempts at ethical or social seduction, can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred of the Tory party. So far as I am concerned, they are lower than vermin.' Aneurin Bevan

Socialist attitudes so often smack of venom, bile, hatred and unreasonableness - over the years and decades, this has not changed. Do you ever hear such odious statements from those who are centre right?

Mr Brown.

Dear Gordon has to face the music today, I wonder if the resignation of his chum has made him a little edgy?
I wonder if he has a conscience; I wonder if he actually realises how much he is personally to blame or if he is even trying to kid himself that most of these problems come from world conditions!
I have my own views.

Erratic?

Postings in the next week may be somewhat erratic but can be guaranteed to be back to normal on the 18th.

Oh no - a truth-teller! A sacking imminent?

A deputy head who sat on a Government taskforce aimed at improving behaviour in schools yesterday condemned a generation of modern parents as 'uber-chavs'.
Ralph Surman said the parents of today's pupils were themselves the children of the 'first big generation of single mothers' from the 1980s.
He claimed they - and in turn their children - have been left with no social skills or work ethic and may be impossible to educate.

The Nutty Professor?

The appropriately named Professor Nutt has claimed that ecstasy is no worse than horseriding.

Perhaps he should have a chat with the coroner who came to address a meeting at our school four years ago.

Booker looks at the third giant con trick.

Chris Booker has long been noted for his intolerance of all those 'opinion formers' and their political sidekicks who take a position and then lie through their teeth to support it.
He has done this with the European Union and 'global warming' and now, this man who to the best of my knowledge has no religious beliefs, is intent on destroying the myth which surrounds that old fraud, Charles Darwin.

"One great stumbling block to his argument is that evolution has repeatedly taken place in leaps forward so sudden and so complex that they could not possibly have been accounted for by the gradual process he suggested - “the Cambrian explosion" of new life forms, the complexities of the eye, the post-Cretaceous explosion of mammals. Again and again some new development emerged which required a whole mass of interdependent changes to take place simultaneously, such as the transformation of reptiles into feathered, hollow-boned and warm-blooded birds.
Years ago, a good illustration of this was Attenborough himself claiming to 'prove’ Darwin’s theory by showing us a mouse and a bat, explaining how one evolved into the other. He seemed oblivious to the obvious point that, as the mouse’s forelegs evolved by minute variations to wings, there must have been a long period when the creature, no longer with properly functioning legs but as yet unable to fly, was much less 'adapted to survive’ than it had been before.
As even Darwin himself acknowledged, these jumps in the story might have seemed to render his thesis absurd’. He might therefore have recognised that some other critically important but unknown factor seemed to be at work, an organising power’ which had allowed these otherwise inexplicable leaps to take place. But so possessed was he by the simplicity of his theory that, brushing such difficulties aside, he made a leap of faith that it must be right, regardless of the evidence. In this he has been followed by generations of 'Darwinians’ who have found his theory so beguiling that, like him, they have refused to recognise how much it cannot explain.
What is fascinating about the Darwinians is their inability to accept just how much they do not know. Armoured in their certainty that they have all the answers when they so obviously don’t, neo-Darwinians such as Richard Dawkins rest their beliefs just as much on an unscientific leap of faith as the Creationists’ they so fanatically affect to despise. It is revealing how they dismissively try to equate all those scientists who argue for 'intelligent design' with Biblical fundamentalists, as their only way to cope with questions they cannot answer.

Something strikingly similar has been taking place over the belief that the world is dangerously warming, due to the rise in man-made CO2. For a time the believers in this theory seemed to have the evidence on their side, as CO2 levels and temperatures rose in apparent harmony. But lately all sorts of evidence has been put forward by serious scientists to suggest that this theory is seriously flawed, not least the fact that recently falling temperatures were not predicted by any of those computer models on which the advocates of global warming rest their beliefs.
It becomes increasingly obvious that, like the Darwinians, the warming supporters are so convinced by the simplicity of their theory that they are unable to recognise how much they do not know - and like the Darwinians their response has been to become ever more fanatically intolerant of anyone who dares question their dogma. This might not matter so much if they hadn’t, on the basis of their faith, persuaded so many of the world’s politicians to propose measures which threaten to inflict a real economic disaster on the world."

I really must recommend reading the entire link.

Total persecution from the liberal left is now in place!

A foster parent who has looked after 80 children has been struck off ... because a Muslim girl in her care became a Christian!
The carer, an Anglican who attends a local evangelical church, said: ‘I did initially try to discourage her. I offered her alternatives. I offered to find places for her to practise her own religion. I offered to take her to friends or family. But she said to me from the word go, “I am interested and I want to come.” She sort of burst in.’
'Mike Judge, a spokesman for the Christian Institute, a pressure group which is funding her case, said: ‘I cannot imagine that an atheist foster carer would be struck off if a Christian child in her care stopped believing in God.'

CONstitutional matters

I would have to thank the recently departed constitutional warrior, Elizabeth Beckett for the following information:
At her coronation, the Queen Elizabeth the Second swore on oath to 'rule this country according to our laws and customs. This contract with us was written clearly in Magna Carta and replicated by Edward I in 1274.'
On six occasions monarchs have returned bills to Parliament on the grounds of them being unconstitutional since 1707 in the time of Queen Anne, the last monarch to overturn a bill in his/her own right.
George the Fifth considered the passage of bills to be a 'formality' but 'automatic assent' is nonetheless, unconstitutional.
Tragically, the Queen should have been the last bastion against takeover by alien governments and had no entitlement to allow any of the laws, customs and constitutional rights to pass to the European Union. She caved in and the 'fudge' has been a disaster for our constitution which is full and as complete as could be.
Our constitution has not been one put into place but has evolved over centuries only to be destroyed in a few short decades. Contrary to the claims of some that we do not even have a constitution, we have the most developed one in the world - it is only that it has never been codified.
I am no republican and the thoughts of a Head of State who is a politician revolts me, I am finding it increasingly difficult however, to consider myself to be even a luke warm monarchist.

If there were no UKIP, I still wouldn't vote tory!

David Cameron's europhilia ( a seriously nasty complaint, with no known cure) has been evidenced by permitting the return of Ken Clarke to the shadow cabinet.
He has still not withdrawn his abhominable "hug a hoodie" lunacy.
And now he has reiterated that he will not create any new grammar schools.
If UKIP were ever to disappear off the face of the earth - these tory losers would still not get my vote - nor would anybody else, I must add.
The tories are just one more liberal left party.

What is the point?

Last night, I had a lengthy and rather sad conversation with somebody who has worked over 30 years in a Sheffield factory which produces - or at least, used to produce tools of genuine Sheffield steel.
He spoke of countless skills and trades, some of which I was familiar with and some not.
They have all gone! The factory is now just a glorified warehouse which sends out imported, Chinese tools.
He pointed out that the place needs a certain management level in order to run and now only requires basic employees who do not even need to be semi skilled.
Clearly, the minimum wage made such sites incapable of competing in manufacturing with exporters from low wage economies; immigration has meant that a massive percentage of the work force now come from E. Europe thus displacing English workers; the educational levels required to work there are basic in the extreme.
Against this backcloth, he asked me why on earth successive governments are trying to give us 'a better educated workforce'.
There is little value in this and this Blog has often questioned why the government is so anxious to shoehorn ever more 'dumbed down' students onto ever more, futile degree courses.
We all recognise the true thinking, of course, governments are trying to get young people off the unemployment figures for as long as six years!
When I teach Careers, my advice to youngsters who are capable of getting to university is to think very hard first. These courses are so costly and tragically often do not lead to jobs.
I tell them that if they are in love with their subject - then fine. If they need the degree for a specialised career - then so be it!
In all other cases, university should be avoided.
Going 'to improve my employment chances' is no longer viable thinking. This is a quarter of a century old attitude and must go!
University numbers must fall - and dramatically.
If a youngster can get into a job area with training attached, post 'A' levels, for a majority, this is the best way forward.

A poem.

Musings of a Happy Has-Been

I am old; I live in the past of farm cottages and cart horses,

Of two mile walks to school and the strap for being two minutes late.
I live in the past when lawbreakers were punished and not excused,
When the local policeman kept law and order by ignoring judges rules.
I live in the past of air raid sirens and long dead regimental friends.
I am alive, but do not live in the boring present of drug abuse,
Of unpunished crime, overpaid footballers, and luxury in prison cells,
Of uncontrolled youth whom no-one dares to challenge.
I am bored by the present; of rule by alien politicians
And pop singers and soap actors who are called heroes.
I am bored by the present stupid phrases, E-mail, and the Internet.
What of the future, shall I live in the future?
No, it terrifies me.

A vengeful God?

How could an atheist or poorly educated {and most people today are!} non-believer possibly grasp that the 'God of the Old Testament' and 'The God of the New' are the same person if they have never studied the Scriptures in an unblinkered fashion?
Professor Dawkins is always most ready and willing to speak disparagingly of "the vengeful God of the OT."
I could point out to him that in Exodus 20, The Commandments unsurprisingly point out that God must be regarded as Holy - and suggest that there is nothing in the universe more important, nor could there be.
The ever sad Dawkins merely interprets this as hubris and vanity and is unable grasp the logic of the point.
With imperfect humanity - it would be as he claims. With an omnipotent Creator - different rules apply. If Christians are right about the existence of the Judaeo-Christian Supreme Being, then our position as to the nature of God makes perfect sense and his does not.
The problem here is that the likes of Dawkins will simply divert the argument and will point out that God advocated the 'butchering' of whole tribes without ever grasping the context.
Might I suggest to readers that if ever confronted with this type of argument, it may be countered by pointing out that the idolatry of these peoples was also linked heavily to child sacrifice.

It is not a particularly theological argument but one which might be much better accepted by non-believers in our modern age.
Photo: tomb of the type which might have contained the bodies of child sacrifices.
Archaeologists have also found 'jar burials' in Israel.
The entombed bones are from a site in modern Syria.

The anti Christian EU.

Once again the European Union can be trusted to demontrate its untrustworthiness.
Christians are being bullied and are being instructed as to what we may believe and what we may not!
There is a new proposed European Directive which is rapidly in the process of going through the various stages of the European Parliament. This proposed Anti-Discrimination Directive prohibits discrimination and harassment on the grounds of disability, age, sexual orientation and religion or belief.
Sound okay, does it?
There are lessons to be derived from the EU’s Employment Discrimination Directive. It might be thought that the Directive would enhance religious liberty. However, the implementation of the 2000 Employment Discrimination Directive has given cause for concern. As a result of the Directive, a Bishop of the English national Church was successfully sued by a homosexual after not being given a position as a youth minister. A British Christian charity was successfully sued for refusing to promote an atheist support worker.

Removal of Rights of Conscience?
The new Directive could remove rights of conscience for those whose religious beliefs prevent them endorsing certain homosexual and religious practices. A Christian architect should not be required to design a mosque. A Christian publication should not be required to advertise material promoting homosexual activity.

And much, much more!

Attenborough.

Attenborough can now no longer be taken seriously. 'By quoting Genesis 1, he accuses the Bible of being responsible for all the pollution and environmental damage in the world. Such were his comments, as reported in The Independent.'
Apparently, his plain lack of understanding of the word 'dominion' means that this atheist, from a family of atheists, can no longer be treated as a dispassionate observer, if indeed he ever could. He is an aggressive atheist with a totally anti-God agenda
Two major points:
1] Why has he consistently refused to debate with creationists who have scientific doctorates if he is so sure of his ground? Is he NOT confident of being able to make them look silly? Running scared is the only possible interpretation.
2] Why is it that he so often quotes evolution as a fact in his many TV series and NEVER attempts to justify or prove any of the things stated? Why is he permitted, unchallenged, to make so many assertions to the viewing public which have long been discredited?

BMI - baby out with bathwater?

'Pilots at BMI are voting on a motion of no confidence in chief executive Nigel Turner following a furious bust-up over pay. The influential British Airline Pilots' Association (Balpa) said in a statement it is considering legal action after claiming the carrier reneged on an agreement to raise salaries.'
BMI reneging on a promise? - Surely not?!
[See posting January 29th!]

The insanity keeps on and on.

'Top universities are being advised to ignore the new A* grade A-level on application forms – to avoid recruiting more pupils from middle-class backgrounds.'

When the left were claiming to support the rise of the 'meritocracy' in their anti grammar school campaigns - it was just hot air.
The abolition of grammar schools removed the best way forward for working class children and ever since they have had to try everything short of restoration to repair the disastrous consequences of their idealistic bitterness.
So now, those with best results must take a backward step because of the class they happen to come from.
Pure evil!

The Great Commission - a Christian must.

"My faith is a very private thing."

Sorry! - Not allowed!

Matthew 28:19-20 states what has come to be called the “Great Commission”: "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Jesus gave this command to the Apostles shortly before He ascended into Heaven.

Keeping this 'privacy' sacrosanct, means that Christians are not loving their neighbours; all those people condemned to a lost eternity.

The essential difference between evangelical Christianity and liberal christianity is that the former cares about those who do not know how to access salvation; the latter prefer to put their trust in man and categorically refuse to worry because they falsely believe that "God will not condemn anybody."
Only one problem - The Scriptures are about God the Son DYING to save any of mankind who are tuly repentant and commit to Him. It is made abundantly clear that failing to take this route leads to hell.
Liberal christians may 'care' but not where it really matters!

Sea ice UNchanges.

BACK TO 1979 LEVELS FOR SEA ICE, as reported in Daily Tech, 1 Jan 2009. Since 1979 scientists have been observing the changes in sea ice in the Arctic and Antarctic regions using satellite images.
With each seasonal cycle millions of square kilometres of this ice melt and reform, but the scientists use a calculation named the “mean ice anomaly” to follow the overall trend. This is the “seasonally-adjusted difference between the current value and the average from 1979-2000”. At the end of 2008 the anomaly was just under zero, i.e. the sea ice was about the same as it was in 1979. The University of Illinois's Arctic Climate Research Center has produced a graph of the global sea ice area and the sea ice anomaly for 1979-2008 showing the anomaly has risen and fallen many times over the 29 years of records. The latest rapid increase in ice defied recent predictions that the Arctic sea ice would soon completely melt.

What? New Scientist rains on Darwin's parade now?

Shocking stuff. Having listened to so much 'adoration of the Darwin' in recent months - I had naturally selected much material 'to prove his greatness'. And now this comes along!
Can they mean that he wasn't perfect after all? - Just one more dis-proof of his hypotheses out of hundreds.

DARWIN WAS WRONG ABOUT TREE OF LIFE, according to the front cover and feature article in New Scientist, 21 Jan 2009, p34-39. Ever since Darwin drew a spiky diagram of a branching pattern in one of his notebooks, and then included a much neater tree in “On theOrigin of Species,” evolutionary biologists have depicted all life on earth as one great tree beginning from a single cell whichgave rise to several basic multi-cellular body plans, which then divided into more and more specialised organisms. It was a goodmetaphor for the basic tenet of evolution – descent from a common ancestor. Numerous attempts have been made to draw up thedefinitive tree of life that shows where branches occurred, and which species gave rise to others along the branch. However, allhave failed. Genome sequencing which should have been able to show clearly which organisms arose from which, has also failed toproduce a tree-like pattern, but instead has produced a scattered pattern because common genes are found in organisms on widelyseparated branches of the tree, and other genes seem to have disappeared and reappeared as a branch grew. For example: biologistMichael Syvanen of the University of California, Davis, recently compared 2000 genes that are common to humans, frogs, sea squirts, sea urchins, fruit flies and nematodes, with the aim of drawing up a tree. It didn’t work. Different genes gave different trees.
