Tariq Ali: a dangerous man - but not quite as bad as he was.

Tariq Ali (Punjabi, Urdu: طارق علی), (born 21 October 1943), is a British Pakistani military historian, novelist, journalist, filmmaker, public intellectual, political campaigner, activist, and commentator. He is a member of the editorial committee of the New Left Review and Sin Permiso, and regularly contributes to The Guardian, CounterPunch, and the London Review of Books. (Wiki.)

I twice went to see him speak when I was at university at a time when he was recognised as the 'best' speaker in the country. I only went the second time because I could not believe how awful he had been the first time I'd seen him. He was more an orator than a speaker: a true rabble-rouser - though admittedly, I am told that he has mellowed a little over the years. Do remember - Jesus loves him!
