'Soft' socialism always degenerates - at the very least - into CONTROL. We see its worst in a cuddly, Khmer Rouge slogan:
'HE WHO PROTESTS IS AN ENEMY: HE WHO OPPOSES IS A CORPSE.'
What untrammeled socialism becomes can be seen in Pol Pot - truly the worst man on the planet in the 20th century. It is estimated that he butchered almost half of the population of Cambodia in just four years. Mind you - he did have ideals - so that was okay then.
It is a great disappointment to me that the soft left not only do not know the railway track they have embarked upon but neither do they recognise the ultimate destination.
'Christianity is not leftwing'? - It surely ain't! And as a matter of interest, there is no similar track from 'right of centre' out to a Nazi/fascist right. Why not? - Because more often than not - fascism grows out of socialism as we see from the cases of both Hitler and Mussolini and indeed, the BNP too.
