Texting, Facebook, computer games and the 'goggle box' are now the frequent substitutes.
Children do not gain an education by studying school subjects - this is merely a base.
Education comes from: reading, a desire to self improve, a thirst for knowledge, a desire to understand the world about them.
These qualities are now, sadly rare. Few children can even grasp the idea that reading is one of life's great pleasue. It takes effort and they are now acclimatised to 'quick fixes' in our double-edged, technological paradise.
