He had a problem with his wealth - it had become a barrier between him and God.
Christ's teaching overall is not so much against wealth but in the loving of it and being mean to the destitute.
Too big a topic for a Saturday morning - but I do advise him to read his Bible more. (Were he to do so, he may even discover that marriage is between one man and one woman!)
