Scientists Couldn't Be Wrong - Surely?

Matthew Shaw, Golcar, Huddersfield. Yorkshire Post. WHAT is it about “experts” who just can’t help themselves spouting forth with their half-baked, un-proven scientific theories? I refer to their recent attempt to unravel the most wonderful mystery of them all, the British weather.
Climate change scientists, meteorological boffins and weather experts thought it was time to tell us why we should prepare for years of wet summers.
Essentially, if the jet stream blows to the north we get dry, sunny weather, if it blows to the south, we don’t.
They decided that melting Arctic sea ice was somehow interfering with the tracking of the jet stream, along which Atlantic weather systems track and dump rainfall upon our soggy little island.
A few days after they went public with this latest pearl of wisdom we had the hottest and driest July for years.
Not long ago they told us this same melting ice would deflect the Gulf Stream, cutting off our prevailing supply of warm, moist, maritime air, resulting in a more continental climate for the British Isles (dry hot summers, cold winters) Despite meteorological satellites, computer models and high-tech wizardry, long term predictions on British weather patterns is little more than a stab in the dark.
At least one thing is clear, the so called “experts”, fresh out of the university of half-baked twaddle, don’t really know what they’re talking about.
Not that they’ll admit it.
