UKIP Membership - Voting - Democracy In Action.

I am going to be renewing my membership of Ukip this morning which will allow me to vote for whichever ten candidates I choose from out of the sixty nominated.
The selection process has sifted through hundreds of applications to fight for the party in the EU elections next May.
All of the proceedings have been put into place and monitored by an independent firm - and major background checks have been carried out on all would-be candidates.
In the near future, the rank order will be announced. The ones who have come through and are ranked in the top ten will be extremely likely to win a seat; those in the next ten will have good chances and maybe, if you are in the top 25 you will still have a reasonable chance of election.
Members will be asked to look at the profiles and will be able to choose to cast votes - Number One = ten points and Number Ten = just one - if I have understood it all properly.
In this fashion, in a national ballot, members will still be able to cast votes for local candidates but will be able to see just who has come through the intensive scrutiny of the interviews in a ranked top 60.
This gives the best of both worlds in a democratic sense. Voters do not have to follow a party line but will, at the same time, know far more about the candidates. A popular local candidate in say, 35th place in the rankings, could perhaps beat people higher up the pecking order.
I am guessing two things:
1) The voting package, when it arrives some weeks from now, will weigh a lot and
2) I reckon that a certain Mr Farage will top the poll.

Sorry Folks.
