SIR
– The four former Supreme Allied Commanders of Nato(Letters,
May 29) are at least honest when
they say it is in America’s interests for Britain to remain in the European
Union.
However,
they are effectively asking the British people to disregard our own interests
and our sovereign democratic future.
Moreover,
they are misguided to believe that the EU will ensure a stable and peaceful
Europe. It is clear that many EU bureaucrats are determined to emasculate Nato
by creating an EU army, and their expansionist aims risk destabilising the
continent.
I
can find no good reason for Britain to stay in the EU, and the security it
provides is one of the least convincing.
