Fossils Made In A Day.

FOSSILS MADE IN A DAY, claim scientists in articles in Science (AAAS) News 14 August 2018 and Palaeontology 25 July 2018 doi: 10.1111/pala.12386. Some fossils of animals and birds include outlines of soft tissues, such as skin and feathers, as well as preserved bones. As part of research into the preservation of soft tissues two researchers at University of Bristol and a colleague from Foundation for Scientific Advancement, Sierra Vista, USA, set out to make simulated fossils in their laboratory. They encased chicken feathers, lizard feet and lizard heads in tablets of clay and then placed the clay tablets in a steel piston. They then used a hydraulic press to apply 3,500 pounds of pressure and baked them at 250 C for 24 hours. According to Science News these conditions are “enough pressure and heat to mimic a fossil buried 0.8 kilometres underground for tens of millions of years”. When the baked clay tablets were broken open they revealed preserved bones surrounded by dark stained outlines. The stained areas consisted of melanosomes – pigment containing granules found in skin and feathers. The artificial fossils were so realistic that when the researchers showed them to other colleagues, they were queried as to “how old they were and where they were discovered”. Saitta commented “We’re not the first people to attempt these sorts of things”, but he does claim “our methods are the best so far”.

ED. COM. These researchers may have come up with a better method of making fake fossils, but they have not simulated millions of years. These scientists have simply proven something Creation Research has been saying for many years – time does not make fossils, the right process does! It takes the right chemical and physical processes to make fossils. As far as we can discern the temperatures they used are far too high for real sedimentary rocks that contain fossils, because the clays in most fossils beds are temperature indicators which show nowhere near the high temperatures they used. We predict that using a lower temperature along with the clay and pressure would still make fossils in a short time, as well as preserve the tissues in much better shape and not just the bones. It would also further confirm that the real fossils we find out in the world did not take millions of years to form.
