The Mighty Frank!

Labour faces a 'catastrophic split' as more MPs prepare to walk out after veteran Frank Field QUIT over Jeremy Corbyn's anti-semitism crisis and 'culture of intolerance'

Mr Field, 76, told party bosses that after nearly 40 years as a Labour MP he was quitting the party whip and will sit as an independent. In a letter detailing his decision made public last night, Mr Field said Britain fought World War II to defeat Nazis - but under Mr Corbyn's watch that victory is being eroded. Labour deputy leader Tom Watson said the resignation was a 'serious loss' for Labour. The latest anti-Semitism row erupted after MailOnline exclusively revealed that Mr Corbyn told a meeting in 2013 (right) that British 'Zionists' had 'no sense of British irony'. His decision sparked fears that other Labour MPs could follow him to the exit, including Mike Gapes, who has told colleagues it is 'over' for him; Luciana Berger, who has faced abuse online; Wes Streeting, an outspoken critic of Mr Corbyn; Kate Hoey, who faces deselection; Margaret Hodge, who called the leader an anti-Semite; and Chris Leslie, an arch-critic of the Labour leader.
