Operation Redstone.

Operation Redstone has uncovered a disgrace within the Church of England - the systematic covering up of clerical child abusers over many decades which brings shame upon that organisation.
The CofE claims to be cleaning up its act. I hope that is true but forgive my doubts.

There are, I believe, two reasons why these horrors have continued:

1) The totally misguided belief that the CofE should never wash its dirty washing in public and
2) The flawed idea that senior clergy can 'forgive' people for sins within their ranks - without taking the Law of the land into account or their responsibilities to multitudes of seriously damaged victims.

Christ is dishonoured by this approach to numerous monstruous individuals. The CofE cannot pardon their clergy for sins against third parties. Forgiveness does not work like that.
If they do not know that everyone is subject to Man's Law within our nation - then shame upon them again.

I congratulate the BBC's Panorama for their extremely balanced, measured, fairminded and incisive reporting on these matters.
