| The Government may introduce a system of labelling for meat products indicating whether animals have been stunned before being killed, environment minister George Eustice MP has hinted. Ritually slaughtered animals are typically not pre-stunned meaning that Halal or Kosher meat would be more easily identifiable by consumers. Last year, Christian Concern launched a petition (which is still open to signatories), calling for clearer labelling of ritually slaughtered meat after it was revealed that many retailers and restaurants were selling unlabelled Halal meat.
