This Blog Has Often Argued That There Is No Such Animal As A 'Peace Dividend.'

At the beginning of the conflict in 1914, Germany had: an army of 840,000; France had 850,000; Russia had 1.25 million and even Belgium had 120,000.
At that time, the very prepared UK had just 82,000. We had no proper artillery or mobile units. So much for preparation!
Incredible that we actually disarmed nicely in time for WW2.
