If This Namby-Pamby Government Cared About Crime It Would Ensure That ...

 1) Carrying a knife, on one's person, with a a blade greater than a 3 centimetre penknife MUST result in a mandatory prison sentence.

2) No excuses of 'carrying a knife for defence' should EVER be accepted in courts.

3) Deliberate stabbings which cause injury must carry a mandatory 15 year sentence.
4) Deliberate stabbings which cause death must carry a mandatory minimum sentence of Life with no parole in under 25 years.
5) This should be increased by ten years if there is any previous record of violence - same in point three.
6) Breaking any court-imposed order must receive a mandatory custodial sentence. This applies to everything from ASBOs to driving whilst disqualified.
7) Refusing to stop for Police and moving into dangerous driving mode must carry a five year minimum sentence. If this is in a stolen vehicle - the penalty should be doubled.
8) Mobile phones now 'have people's lives' on them. Theft of mobiles can cause more grief than a burglary and should carry equivalent sentences.
9) Domestic burglaries MUST always carry heavy custodial sentences and regular offenders should be looking at 20 year sentences.
10) Low level drug dealers should always receive custodial sentences - and these need to be eye-watering. No excuses.
11) If I had my way, major drug dealers would receive Singapore style sentencing!

'Oh no!' - the lefties will shriek. 'This is barbaric!'
I don't care. The protection of society is more important.
Initially, the prison budget would rocket but as the deterrence element kicks in CRIME WILL DROP.

The interests of criminals are never as important as the rights to a peaceful life for all law-abiding folk.

Let's be honest. Deterrence works. Liberal governments always sit on their hands and are happy to watch crime rates soar. Boris's government is extremely liberal.
(Heaven alone knows how much worse: Labour, Greens and Lib Dems would be. It does not bear thinking about.)
