Sent To Me By A Statistician. Pollution - The Scam!

I apologize, but I am unable to provide real-time or up-to-date statistics, as my knowledge was last updated in September 2021. However, I can provide you with historical data on carbon emissions in the United Kingdom up to the year 2019. Please note that these figures are approximate and sourced from various reports, including the UK's Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and other global databases.

  1. 1900s: In 1900, UK emissions were roughly 200 million metric tons of CO2 per year. Over the decade, emissions rose to around 220 million metric tons by 1910.
  2. 1910s: Emissions fluctuated during this period due to the First World War. Emissions were approximately 240 million metric tons in 1920.
  3. 1920s: Emissions increased over the decade to around 270 million metric tons by 1930.
  4. 1930s: The UK's carbon emissions continued to rise during the 1930s, reaching approximately 290 million metric tons by 1940.
  5. 1940s: Emissions fluctuated in the 1940s, largely due to the impact of World War II. They decreased during the war years and reached around 320 million metric tons by 1950.
  6. 1950s: Emissions grew during this period, reaching a peak of about 390 million metric tons by 1960.
  7. 1960s: Carbon emissions increased until the mid-1960s, peaking at around 420 million metric tons. By the end of the decade, they
began to decline slightly, reaching approximately 410 million metric tons by 1970.
  1. 1970s: The 1970s saw a mix of fluctuating emissions, with some periods of growth and decline. By the end of the decade, emissions were around 400 million metric tons in 1980.
  2. 1980s: The 1980s saw a gradual decrease in carbon emissions due to a decline in coal consumption and the growth of natural gas and nuclear power. Emissions fell to approximately 350 million metric tons by 1990.
  3. 1990s: The UK's carbon emissions continued to decline throughout the 1990s, largely due to energy efficiency improvements, the shift from coal to natural gas, and the increased use of renewables. By 2000, emissions had dropped to around 290 million metric tons.
  4. 2000s: Emissions decreased further during the 2000s, driven by factors such as energy efficiency, the growth of renewable energy, and the continued decline of coal consumption. By 2010, emissions were approximately 220 million metric tons.
  5. 2010s: The 2010s saw a significant decrease in carbon emissions as the UK continued to transition toward cleaner energy sources and implement energy efficiency measures. By 2019, emissions had dropped to around 140 million metric tons.
Please note that these figures are approximate and have been rounded for simplicity. The exact numbers may vary depending on the data source.

Why are these figures so important to the so-called zero carbon debate? (It's not really a debate, of course, but more, a one-sided diatribe; a rant in fact.)
The UK has done its bit on the world stage. We have reduced emissions by a huge amount; by a huge percentage. Since the beginning of the 50s we have seen vehicle numbers increase by amounts that would once have been unbelievable but the overall pollution has dropped by around two thirds. Moreover, emissions today are now at a fraction of the levels back in 1900!
Steam trains have gone and black smoke no longer belches out of every chimney.
Smokeless fuels; carbon capture; clean up on what came out of car exhausts; nuclear power; switching to gas and even a little bit of help from renewables. We have done brilliantly on our islands at the same time as seeing a massive population increase.
No self-congratulation - just ever more ranting that 'it will not do; it is not enough; there must be more from us.' We are islands built on energy producing coal, gas, shale gas and oil yet prefer to import energy. ???
These disastrous policies are like chickens coming home to roost. We look at France with its proper, efficient nuclear model and can only admire their foresight. They have power at their fingertips at a time when we have to buy power in! The insanity of successive governments has driven so many of our people to the brink of poverty and has damaged standards of living. This was all coming even before war in Ukraine.
This is the single largest contribution to our country's rapid move towards destitution.
Why has all of this happened?- We have listened to the Greens who are not just a radical group but rather, one which developed out of the demise of the British Communist Party.
And still it goes on - the ever greater demands to 'fight carbon' (a bit odd as we are all largely made out of that commodity.) 'Net Zero' is the cry; CO2 is deemed to be toxic and yet it feed the plants and forests which supply the air we breathe. It is NOT our enemy.
Across the globe, trillions are being spent to try to change the climate as it has warmed by a degree over the last century and ALL models predicting disastrous rises in temperature over the last quarter century have not come to pass - have they Mr Gore?
Do these dangerous people not know that when I was at university in the 70s - we were promised an Ice Age?
We have never had more polar bears, by the way.
Why do these people ignore the warming in Roman times which allowed healthy grape crops to supply the invaders with local wine?
Have they forgotten the medieval warm period - much warmer than what we have now? So did their warming come from Roman chariots and farm carts? (Of course, the warmists are trying to expunge these two warm periods from History. I kid you not.)
What about the cooling seen in between the 17th and 19th centuries? Ice fairs on the Thames itself? - Have we any reason to believe that these will not reoccur in the future? - None!
Anthropogenic global warming remains unproven and as a a concept it has been riddled with: pretence, deceits and dishonesty from those whose living depends on these fantasies.
Let us pretend for one moment that all the piffle has some truth in it. Our contribution to this perceived problem is minimal. Can what we do possibly offset the coal-fired power stations all over China with three new ones opening EVERY month? (India is only marginally better.)
We need a major movement against the warmists and their crazy acolytes. With almost every family's children destined to have a future significantly poorer than that of their parents - we must seek out truth and ditch the propaganda.

Phew.
