Preacher detained in China
Please pray for Chinese house church preacher An Yankui, who has been detained by the authorities in China.
His precise status, and how long he is expected to be held, are not yet clear. A summons issues by the Taiyuan Municipal Public Security Bureau stated that he was suspected of ‘organising illegal religious activities.’
His detention in Taiyuan, the capital of Shanxi province, follows years of police actions involving An and other members of Taiyuan Xuncheng Reformed Church, an unregistered protestant congregation.
It is not the first time An has faced this particular allegation. In December 2020 he was detained for 15 days and fined 1,000 yuan, according to previous reporting by Voice of Persecuted Christians’ partner, ChinaAid.
Pray for An Yankui’s wellbeing in detention and that he would be released soon.
Pray for protection and perseverance for all members of the Taiyuan Xuncheng Reformed Church.
Pray for an end to the targeting of unregistered churches by the Chinese authorities.
