Churchianity.

The other day I heard the word 'churchianity' for the first time in many years. It is a good word as it describes and encompasses a practice which is all too common in our nation.
In 'churchianity' Christ must take second place to 'getting all the churchy things right'.
We must put Christ first then all else will fall into place. It is a simple question of priorities.

Workfare

This is the Wikepedia definition of WORKFARE:
Workfare is an alternative model to conventional social welfare systems. Traditional welfare benefits are available with little required of the recipient, save their (sometimes) continued search for employment, if that. Under workfare, recipients have to meet certain participation requirements to continue to receive their welfare benefits. These requirements are often a combination of activities that are intended to improve the recipient's job prospects (such as training, rehabilitation and work experience) and those designated as contributing to society (such as unpaid or underpaid work). These programs, now common in the United States Australia (as "mutual obligation") and Canada, have generated considerable debate and controversy.
Like it? - Better than our idiotic system?

Dependency culture produces....

The man who represents Britain's hotel industry has sparked controversy by labelling British workers "unemployable".
Bob Cotton, chief executive of the British Hospitality Association - representing 40,000 hotels, restaurants and caterers - said it was a "no brainer" whether employers in his industry hired a Pole or a Briton.
He told a Parliamentary inquiry into tourism: "People have got to want to turn up every day."




BENEFIT CULTURE produces appalling situations like this; people who refuse to get off their rears and EARN a living. Don't worry. The rest of us can pay for all of this and then see the social structure straining with the government's absurd, short-termist, immigration solution!

Michael Nazir-Ali.

I was listening to a senior church figure on radio throwing about the usual platitudes towards Islam and was horrified to hear him criticise the good bishop for daring to tell the truth. I am truly fed up with these out-of-touch church types who are more interested in liberal left pontificating than real life and real Christianity!

Only the English are British on the Beeb.

This is the text of a recent complaint to the BBC [one of many]:

"The BBC really must make more of an effort to stop using Britain as a synonym for England. They are not the same thing.

On the England news page this evening there is a story entitled "Rescued Briton abandons yacht". The leading paragraph says "A British yachtsman is forced to abandon his new yacht after suffering a fall during a solo Atlantic crossing". This is on the England page.

On the Scotland page there is no mention of the word Britain or any variation.

What there is though - and this is what is really quite ironic - is a story entitled "US library has change of heart over calling Scots authors English".

When will the BBC have a change of heart over calling English British?"

Genesis TV: Information.

Guide to injustice - guidelines.

I have made reference to the principle of 'totality' on this Blog and have explained how it is used to ensure that prolific criminals invariably leave our courts badly undersentenced.
I have made reference too to 'guidelines' on a number of occasions. It would perhaps be wise at this point to explain how this 'sister of totality' actually works.
Magistrates may be sentencing for a crime such as Driving Whilst Disqualified. Their 'guideline' in their Bench Handbook currently states; 'Entry point - community penalty and the relevant page also gives a number of aggravating features which could conceivably, on rare occasions, turn the issue into one of custody.
[There is also a list of mitigating features which might suggest an even lower disposal! ]
Clearly, this is a very serious offence and should almost always result in imprisonment, not least because the offence demonstrates an absolute contempt for a major court order and the offender has been considered unfit to be on the roads.
When I began on the Sheffield Bench in the mid 90s, the entry point was custody - when I left it had been reduced to a community penalty , effectively by Home Secretary David Blunkett.
What this means is that the government accepts that there are high penalties in place but will not allow magistrates to use them.
So whenever the government starts sabre rattling and talks of a 'crackdown' on a particular crime by [probably unnecessary] new legislation, it puts a really high top penalty in place in order to grab headlines and then will seldom allow the magistrates to use the penalties available. The ever present 'guidelines' will have done their 'liberal left job' in ensuring that yet another criminal will not have to face a realistic punishment.

All roads lead to...

In my day it was Scripture or RK; in one school it was Divinity. Today it is RE - Religious Education.

If the subjects first mentioned could barely scratch the surface of Christianity then, how is the current, under-taught hotch potch called RE going to address the issue today and give youngsters a genuine base on which to make critical life decisions?

RE is based on multifaith non-belief. It sees all religions as wrong but rather quaint. So they can all be 'bunged in together' on the extremely dubious premise, "All roads must lead to God." [All very useful for any in the system who retain any sparse vestiges of belief!]

Logically and ethically this hypothesis is deeply flawed.

Did all roads really lead to Rome?

The purpose of all of this is clear. RE is designed to undermine faith and not as so often dishonestly claimed, 'to promote personal investigation'. Youngsters are not given a starting point.

Could they take it?

How many people do you know who might appreciate this Blog? - I spend a massive amount of time compiling it in order to get what I consider to be just the correct balance.
Some might be disappointed that this is not a forum - but I simply do not have enough time to respond in a manner which would do that justice. So - it simply remains my 'take' on our society.
I know it is 'strong stuff' and can offend but I would like to think that those who might appreciate it would at least know about it!

Health Authority figures show that cannabis treatment for serious addicts [of this allegedly non-addictive drug] have risen from an annual 11,000 prior to the downgrading of the drug, to 16,000 in the period immediately after. Just a 50% increase then. Hardly worth the mentioning.

[After seeing this photo, I actually wondered if the police were being told by HMG to cultivate the stuff to supply addicts but in all honesty, I think we are at least a year away from that scenario becoming part of this government's policy.]

All discrimination is wrong.

In an organisation where minorities are OVER-represented, mollycoddled and even feted, do you honestly believe, in your heart of hearts, that the BBC has been racist in the appointment of executives? - Because I do not!
'Fast-tracking' of minorities also known as 'positive discrimination' is to be brought in 'to balance up the numbers'.
This means that the best people for a particular job will be ignored if they commit the heinous offence of being white!
Philip Davies MP, who is becoming to the Tories what Frank Field is to Labour, states:
"This is just clear cut positive discrimination and this is the type of thing that just makes people's blood boil. They should be colour blind when employing people."

Sorry, Phil. Too much like common sense! No place in a Cameron cabinet for you!

Cover up.

Heard of the great deposits of BOTH current and extinct animals at Fairbanks Alaska? -
Of course not.
Science, politicians, educational establishments and the media keep these matters from the front pages - otherwise, questions might be asked and questioning evolution is not permitted.
If Mastodons, sabre tooth tigers and countless long extinct species are mixed with current species such as horses, bears, camels, seals and even whales, all in 50 metres of entombed destruction - we have to acknowledge that this is what is known as catastrophism.
In the 19th century such discoveries were attributed to 'tidal waves' or 'waves of translation' and were in the text books. Well, not any longer they ain't.
Emmet Sweeney points out that this is on 'ideological' grounds and amounts to 'one of the greatest scientific coverups of all time.

Punish the innocent!

'Labour knew best - again!" - Against a background of rising alcohol problems, they liberalised licensing laws, have reduced criminal penalties - usually through manipulation of judicial guidelines - and have allowed the lamentable numbers of police on the streets to fall even further.
Their only solution is to 'raise taxation levels' on alcohol. They never target the guilty but simply use tactics which will hit everybody.
And look what a mess they made with their silly, liberal, cannabis legislation!

1st Class?

So. The number of 1st class honours degrees has doubled in a decade. I do hope cynical people will not suggest that this is 'dumbing down'.
Clearly, standards have soared under Labour!

Speed bumps.

Speed bumps - do they work?
I am getting increasingly fed up of negotiating my way through chicanes and speed bumps only 40 yards apart on some roads in this vicinity.
One chicane has been put in place and as you approach it from the side without the right of way, because of a small hill, you can actually find yourself going through it 'blind'.
A former colleague of mine had such problems with them that his wife, who has an extreme back condition, was unable to go out in the car at all because of the effects of these bumps around their home. The same applies to my aged mum, [ although in fairness, getting her into a car is a major operation in its own right.]
In the end the situation became so dire with hospital appointments et al that they were forced to move house.
Needless to say, in under a year this new dwelling became surrounded with them!
Once again the innocent are punished in order to curtail the guilty but does that work? - Seemingly not, as speedbumps and chicanes are extra fun for the so-called joyriders who carry on at exaggerated speeds whatever the road conditions. I suspect that these are the people who should have been targeted with draconian sentencing.
A recent letter on text indicates that in a southern county [Somerset as I recall], a massive placement of speed bumps has coincided with a RISE in road deaths.
I write this piece because this morning a van nearly struck my car in its attempts to wriggle past the wretched things.
On closes, cul de sacs, narrow urban areas choc a bloc with housing and where children play in the street itself - maybe. Outside schools - fine.
But don't you get the feeling that this is just the anti-car lobby doing all in its power to be spiteful? Isn't this more of the same in matters such as when perfectly acceptable parking spaces suddenly see double yellow lines appear from nowhere?
Remember. These measures keep cars out on the roads LONGER and therefore add significantly to air pollution.

Scam.

The selective and profoundly limited CPI [Consumer Price Index] on inflation indicates a level less than half that of the price rises shown in the RPI [Retail Price Index].
So naturally the RPI is deceitfully ignored by the government in calculating pay rises and rates of inflation.
The government is deliberately misleading us because this suits its own purposes.

Hadrosaur.

A 35' long, 3.5 ton hadrosaur has been discovered in Hell Creek, N. Dakota. The creature is so well preserved that the fossil even showed skin and muscle detail.
Shaun Doyle reports:
"Dakota’s exceptional preservation is certainly consistent with the biblical Flood, suggesting very rapid preservation underwater in a mineral-rich environment. It will be interesting to see whether further examination produces unfossilised soft tissue." [Indeed this is the ONLY realistic way this fossil could have been preserved - it certainly didn't happen gradually!]
Of course this specimen is classed as being '67 million years old' but after the discovery of T Rex tissue recently, the whole long age 'house of cards' is rocking - and not so very gently.
[No scientist believes that tissue can survive over a million years and most work to a date of just 100,000. - Trouble is of course, even though these are absurdly long periods of time, they do not leave anywhere near sufficient for evolution to have taken place.]

Definition of political correctness.

Blasphemy is okay!

BLASPHEMY LAW CHALLENGE IN COMMONS. Dr Evan Harris MP, an 'Honorary Associate' of the National Secular Society, is moving an amendment to the Criminal Justice and Immigration Bill tomorrow to abolish the laws against blasphemy and blasphemous libel.

Of course, once enacted, this will only apply to Christianity in the real world. Race hate laws will be dragged out, dusted off and used to protect muslims.

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to have a level playing field for once?

CHRISTIANS. Do find out how your MP voted - and punish at the ballot box if necessary.

Normally he hates hypocrisy but....

Remember when Jack Straw came out and boldly stated that Muslim women did not have an entitlement to hide their faces? Weren't we all impressed that this ridiculous popinjay had finally come up with something sensible?
Well. Guess what. It was all front; the purest of hypocrisy. His leanings towards political correctness proved just a bit too strong.
Oh, how do I know? - Well, he has censured Manchester JP Ian Murray for refusing to hear a case in his court because Zubia Hussain had refused to uncover her face. Mr Murray must now go off for 'special retraining' by the thought police.
That Miss Hussain be given preferential treatment is an absolute disgrace; that a magistrate acting correctly be treated in such a way is an abomination.
I am not normally crude on this Blog but I think that this UNPAID public servant and volunteer, Mr Murray, should tell Mr Straw precisely and anatomically where he can stick the magistracy.

It MUST be deliberate.

I have already looked at the outrageous case of a Ugandan lady who was to be deported in the most vile of circumstances.
Now Ama Sumani who has been here for a number of years and has terminal cancer has just been deported back to Ghana - effectively a death sentence for a pleasant and law-abiding lady.
One question. Is this deliberate - indeed calculated in order to demonstrate 'how dreadful deportation really is' and thereby to justify the government's usual non-policy?
I am sorry to have to even suggest this, but I genuinely suspect that this poor lady has been cynically used by a government which would normally go apoplectic were you to advocate the execution of a vicious criminal.
I wonder how comfortably she will die if she too suspects that this government, which refuses in some cases to deport murderers and rapists, has used her as a mere publicity stunt? I am ashamed of our leaders who have no sense of justice whatsoever!
