Driving bans.

I am never one to shirk criticising leniency in the judicial system and certainly the magistrates who failed to ban a man with FIFTY FOUR points on his licence are buffoons.
BUT the figures which suggest that one quarter of people reaching the mandatory 12 point limit are not banned cannot be used as a stick with which to beat the magistracy - quite the opposite! It demonstrates a level of common sense within the system.
The 12 point limit ought to be sacrosanct BUT how can it be when points are chucked around like confetti and the absurd speed cameras must shoulder the blame. The Law is falling into disrepute through triviality!
The last time I visited court - a man was about to lose his licence because the back wheels of his parked car had been just clipping the studs of a zebra crossing!
As a new driver - he needed six points not twelve and this would do the trick.
Scandalous!
