We gave up on soaps about seven years ago for two main reasons:-
1) Non-stop political correctness - even when not on the Beeb and
2) Absurd, exaggerated and convoluted plots.
From what I am seeing from newspaper headlines Coronation Street appears to have gone into another dimension's reality!
(We visited the Coronation Street set with a school party some ten years ago.)
