DEPUTY Prime Minister Nick Clegg has been urged to talk to victims whose lives have been shattered by knife crime before ordering his MPs to block tougher sentences.

The Liberal Democrats have been waging a war against proposals put forward by backbench Conservative MP Nick de Bois that will automatically send criminals to jail if they are caught carrying a knife for the second time.  Express. (NOTE that this is an extremely liberal piece of proposed legislation. In my world - carrying a knife - other than a small penknife -  would earn immediate custody.)
